    Job Description

    We are seeking a Scientist, Analytical Chemistry to support Deciphera’s drug discovery programs and chemical library generations. This is a key position within our growing non-clinical research group.

    This position will report to a Senior Scientist within the Analytical Chemistry department, located in our state-of-the-art research facility in Lawrence, KS.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide analytical support for the medicinal chemistry, bioanalytical and enzymatic compound screening groups.
    • Assist in the development and advancement of the recently formed compound diversity initiative.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of analytical methods. Prepare and analyze samples using these analytical and bioanalytical methodologies
    • Follow written procedures and appropriate analytical practices to ensure quality and compliance.
    • Check experimental data for validity, and keep contemporary, accurate, legible, and complete experimental records. Ensure that data is properly filed and accessible for review in accordance with appropriate SOP’s
    • Assist in the operation and maintenance of analytical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related discipline, combined with 0-3 years of relevant experience is desired. Equivalent experience may be substituted for educational background.
    • Must have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and be able to provide a high level of organization skills and attention to detail.
    • Knowledge and/or experience within an analytical chemistry laboratory, and/or have similar experience in related fields.
    • Ability to conduct laboratory operations and experiments in a safe manner. Maintain familiarity with the organization’s chemical hygiene plan.  Must exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.
    • Can maintain the laboratory equipment in a clean, organized, and orderly manner.
    • Willingness to seek input from others on ideas, problem-solving, and / or use others as a resource.
    • Able to work in highly dynamic, fast paced, and multidisciplinary work environment and contribute to a continued enjoyable work atmosphere.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous experience analyzing chemical samples using high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), mass spectroscopy (MS), or other analytical instrumentation is desired. However, we are willing to train the right person based on other qualifications.
    • Previous laboratory experience working within a biotech, pharmaceutical, and / or contract research organization.
    • Ability to perform analytical related work with minimal supervision.
    • Prior experience in performing routine maintenance of analytical instruments
