GMS Offshore is actively hiring Deckhands for current and upcoming offshore project work. This posting represents an active staffing need and is intended for candidates who are available to begin work in the near term.

STCW Certification Required for Consideration

Project schedules and locations vary based on vessel and client needs. Assignments may include multi-day or multi-week offshore rotations and may require travel. Candidates should be comfortable working extended days and living aboard a vessel for the duration of an assignment.

Responsibilities

Perform general vessel maintenance, cleaning, painting, and upkeep to maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Assist with vessel mobilization and demobilization, including loading, securing, and organizing equipment and supplies.

Handle lines, fenders, and other deck equipment during docking, undocking, and vessel operations.

Assist with the operation of deck machinery and equipment, including winches, A-frames, cranes, hydraulics, and rigging as directed.

Support offshore project operations, including equipment deployment and recovery, marine survey and research operations, AUV/ROV operations, and other client activities.

Assist clients, technicians, and project personnel onboard as needed while maintaining a professional and safety-focused environment.

Follow all vessel safety procedures, emergency protocols, and instructions from the Captain and senior crew.

Perform basic vessel and equipment inspections and report maintenance, equipment, or safety concerns.

Maintain clean and orderly deck, common, and work areas.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Captain or senior crew.

Requirements

Current STCW certification required.

Previous deckhand, commercial vessel, offshore, fishing, or other relevant maritime experience required.

Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to assist with vessel maintenance and minor repairs.

Experience with rigging, hydraulics, winches, cranes, A-frames, or other deck machinery is preferred.

Ability to work effectively as part of a small vessel crew and follow direction from senior crew members.

Professional communication skills when working with clients and project personnel onboard.

Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.

Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and sea conditions.

Willingness to travel and work extended days, weekends, holidays, and multi-day or multi-week assignments as project schedules require.
