About CTL CTL Companies is a 40-year-established Colorado-based company working at the intersection of design, lighting, technology, and electrical craftsmanship. We serve luxury residential clients across the Front Range—from Monument, throughout the Denver Metro, to Fort Collins, Boulder, and the foothills—as well as mountain communities including Summit County and Grand County.

While CTL has long been trusted for architectural lighting, electrical, and integrated systems, we are intentionally expanding our decorative lighting and shading practice. This role is a rare opportunity to help shape a design-focused discipline inside a stable, respected company with the resources to execute at a high level.

The Design Opportunity We are seeking a Lighting & Shading Design Specialist with a refined aesthetic, strong client presence, and deep knowledge of decorative fixtures and window coverings. This role is ideal for a designer who wants to be more than a specifier—someone who wants to influence design direction, client experience, and the evolution of a boutique lighting studio.

You will work directly with homeowners, interior designers, architects, and builders, guiding lighting and shading decisions that elevate the architecture and interiors while remaining technically sound and buildable.

This is a fully in-person, design-forward role based in Littleton, Colorado.

    What You’ll Be Doing

Lead decorative lighting and shading design consultations for luxury residential projects

Collaborate with interior designers and architects to align fixture and shade selections with overall design intent

Translate aesthetic vision into complete specifications, schedules, and budgets

Own full design, specification, and sales responsibility for decorative lighting and window coverings

Guide clients confidently through style, scale, finish, and placement decisions

Contribute to the curation and evolution of a boutique lighting and shading studio experience

Actively participate in business development and outreach, building relationships with interior designers, architects, builders, and potential clients

Represent CTL as a lighting and shading design resource within the local design community

Develop long-term referral relationships through trust, design credibility, and responsiveness

Participate in networking events, showroom meetings, and design-industry touchpoints as appropriate

Coordinate closely with CTL’s architectural lighting, electrical, and systems teams to ensure seamless execution

Build, maintain, and foster strong relationships with decorative lighting and shading manufacturer representatives

Serve as a primary point of contact between CTL and key vendor partners

Collaborate with reps on product education, line reviews, pricing strategies, and showroom support

Help evaluate, onboard, and evolve vendor lines to align with CTL’s luxury, design-forward vision

    Who This Role Is For

3-5+ years of experience in decorative lighting design and client consulting (senior designers and seasoned veterans strongly encouraged)

A strong design eye with an understanding of luxury residential environments

Proven experience specifying decorative fixtures and window coverings / shading systems a plus

Comfortable working directly with discerning, high-net-worth clients

Confident presenting ideas, guiding decisions, and owning the design narrative

Organized, detail-oriented, and fluent in translating design into documentation

Intellectually curious and open-minded, with a willingness to learn new systems, approaches, and perspectives

Enjoys educating clients, collaborators, and internal teams—and is equally open to learning from others

Collaborative by nature, receptive to ideas, feedback, and evolving design philosophies

Self-directed and comfortable working independently, with the ability to manage time, priorities, and projects without close supervision

Demonstrates strong personal productivity, follow-through, and accountability in a fast-moving, design-driven environment

Entrepreneurial mindset with excitement around building something meaningful

    Why Designers Choose This Role

Opportunity to help build a lighting & shading design practice, not just support one

Creative influence over showroom experience, vendor lines, and design standards

Stable, 40-year-old company with residential and commercial clients and complex projects

Ability to focus on design without sacrificing execution quality

Clear path for growth as the practice expands

Compensation is competitive and will be aligned with experience.
