CHIEF of Staff
The Chief of Staff (CoS) serves as a strategic right hand and thought partner to the Chief Steward and creates cohesion among teams and departments. The CoS partners closely with the Chief Steward, leadership team and a variety of internal and external stakeholders to develop, coordinate and execute projects and initiatives across the organization to drive toward DeepNet’s strategic business and culture priorities.
Role Title Responsibilities:
OBJECTIVE: Lead, manage and hold accountable the team members you directly support:
Provide clear direction, set priorities, provide oversight and strategic input on programs and processes managed and implemented by the team, and manage team budget.
Support team member growth and development by providing timely feedback to team, facilitating review debriefs and other growth and development conversations, and ensuring team members have the appropriate resources, training, technology, team capacity, and time and attention to achieve their objectives.
Assess whether team members are aligned with DeepNet’s core values, get, want, and have the capacity to do the core responsibilities of their role, and are achieving their rocks and hitting their metrics.
Lead weekly 1:1 check-ins and team Level10 meetings, facilitate quarterly goal setting sessions to identify and remove barriers to success, prioritize action items, and solve team-level issues, and solicit, respond to and action team feedback.
Travel nationally for up to 1 week per quarter.
OBJECTIVE: Ensure Steward-level and business goals are achieved:
Work with the Chief Steward and the extended leadership team to help develop goals, and work with the key initiative owners to translate business needs into a business case and goals into concrete milestones.
Monitor and review milestones and deadlines with Stewards and assess barriers to achieving them.
Help define key performance indicators and oversee progress, including assessing progress against and barriers to achieving goals and driving accountability for Steward ownership of department KPIs and dashboard updating.
Keep the Chief Steward accountable for commitments, while helping keep Stewards accountable for results.
Lead succession planning activities including monthly leadership team meetings and weekly departmental check-ins and manage and maintain succession planning documentation in AirTable and Pingboard.
OBJECTIVE: Drive strategic decision-making to support overall business objectives:
Serve as a strategy sounding board to the executive team and build a thorough understanding of all areas of the business to determine priorities of the Chief Steward and identify opportunities to increase the company's effectiveness in execution.
Formulate recommendations for key decisions to be made by the Chief Steward around strategic initiatives and risk mitigation including company culture, company and client impact, and industry focus relative to other MSPs and from risk mitigation and strategic perspectives (e.g., do the industries DeepNet is in drive value, is DeepNet resonating in the industries we’re going after, etc.).
Identify, define, manage, and drive execution and performance of strategic initiatives and objectives critical to the success of the business including implementing EOS, financing, M&A, employee-owned / ESOP and roll up, B Corp recertification and initiatives for deeper B Corp alignment, and employee growth and development.
OBJECTIVE: Break down siloes and foster cross-team collaboration:
Manage multiple high-profile projects (including those above) simultaneously across a distributed set of internal and external stakeholders without direct ownership of resources by fostering cross-company collaboration and alignment of resource investments, readiness, and functional action plans.
Work with the Chief Steward to set up and drive successful outcomes of quarterly and annual strategic planning process and work with the executive team to ensure that cross-functional issues and objectives have a plan, owner and delivery date and leaders are investing the time to collaborate together in working on the business.
Facilitate discussions and participate in healthy debate where necessary to test ideas and help drive to the right outcome.

College degree or equivalent professional experience required.
High level of integrity, stellar judgment, and discretion to handle and manage the full scope of highly sensitive, confidential information dealt with by the Chief Steward and executive leadership.
Critical thinking and analytical/problem-solving skills, and the ability to combine and balance qualitative analysis with a proven understanding of strategy, operations, interpersonal and technical competencies.
Ability to orchestrate strategic and complex cross-functional business activities and projects with sharp business acuity, creativity, and attention to detail.
Comfort with ambiguity and proven ability to create clarity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skill / Abilities:
Experience managing large scale projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Experience working directly with C-level executives, and with numerous groups and functions in professional services companies.
Experience working with MSPs.
Substantial individual contributor with a proven track record of driving results by directing cross-functional teams with people at different levels across disparate groups.
