Full Job Description
A Deli Clerk is responsible for handling produce and interacting with customers to make sales. Their duties include slicing meats and cheeses, taking inventory of products, making sandwiches, and talking with customers about the types of products on display.
Essential Functions
Provides excellent customer service, makes product recommendations, and answers questions.
Prepares food for customers, including slicing deli meats and cheeses, making sandwiches, and packaging items.
Learn about new deli items and menu options quickly.
Unloads daily deliveries and makes sure the deli display cases are organized and fully stocked with fresh food.
Use of point-of-sale systems to price items and complete transactions.
Operates all deli equipment according to safety guidelines.
Cleans and sanitizes deli equipment and food surfaces, including meat and cheese slicers, deli display cases, and utensils.
Maintaining and cleaning the front of the store and front facing/restocking the shelves.
Follows written and verbal instructions from managers.
Adheres to federal, state, and local food safety and sanitation guidelines and company policies.
Functional and Physical Requirements
Handles the physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and lifting at least 50 pounds.
Collaborates with deli team members and helps other departments as needed.
Communicates effectively
Enjoys working with customers.
Education, Training, & Experience Requirements
Must be able to perform his/her function after adequate on-the-job trainings
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
