Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Deli Cook to join our team. As a Deli Cook, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of deli items including sandwiches, pizza, soups, and other menu items. You will also be expected to provide excellent customer service, maintain cleanliness and organization in the deli area, and manage inventory of deli meats and cheeses.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and assemble sandwiches, pizzas, and other deli items according to established recipes and customer preferences.
Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, cheeses, and sauces for use in pizza and sandwich preparation.
Take customer orders and provide friendly and efficient service.
Assist in the preparation and cooking of soups, salads, and other menu items as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the deli area, including equipment, utensils, and workstations.
Manage inventory of deli meats, cheeses, and other ingredients, ensuring freshness and proper rotation.
Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper storage and handling of food products.
Operate kitchen equipment including pizza ovens, slicers, grills, and other appliances.
Lift and carry loads weighing up to 50 pounds as part of ingredient preparation and stocking activities.
Adhere to safety protocols when handling hot surfaces, sharp knives, and other kitchen equipment.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including dress code, attendance standards, and the importance of thorough cleaning practices. Including appropriate health department hair/facial hair standards/
Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely service.
Assist in receiving deliveries and storing products in designated areas.
Perform tasks that require bending, twisting, and standing for long periods of time.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
Previous experience working in a deli or similar food service environment preferred.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and sanitation standards.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Food handler's certification or willingness to obtain one.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, such as crates of deli meats and cheeses, weighing up to 50 pounds.
Proficiency in operating kitchen equipment including but not limited to pizza ovens, slicers, and grills.
Adherence to safety protocols when handling hot surfaces, sharp knives, and other kitchen equipment.
Willingness to follow proper lifting techniques to prevent injury and maintain a safe working environment.
