    Position Summary: The Actuarial Analyst assists in the development of rating materials used in the sales of dental insurance products and provides ad hoc analysis and reporting. Essential Functions: • Performs data collection, mathematical analyses, modeling, and report generation to support the actuarial, underwriting, sales, and financial areas of the corporation. Time will be divided between regular analysis of the business and in responding to ad hoc requests for data. • Assists members of management in evaluating business strategies from an actuarial and financial perspective. • Assists with regular actuarial analysis pertaining to utilization trends, rating factors, and the development of the financial forecast model. • Provides Underwriting and Sales with data and report support on blocks of business and on an individual account basis. Be able to discuss needs and suggest appropriate elements to be included. • Assists with developing data and statistics in support of the provider recruiting and auditing areas. • Works with IT on data and system issues as necessary. Be able to represent Actuarial /Underwriting and Sales in meetings with IT on system needs. • Maintains documentation on regular processes. • Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in actuarial sciences, mathematics, statistics, economics, programming, data analytics, or related degree. • Demonstrated efficiency in Excel and working with Databases. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. • Detail oriented. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • One to two years experience as an analyst w/a medical or dental insurer in an actuarial, statistical or medical economics department performing systems queries, programming and actuarial analysis related to rating, forecasting, or claim accrual estimation preferred. • Skills in information systems, spreadsheets, databases and VBA macros. • Ability to review large sets of data and break down into meaningful information. • Knowledge of relational database concepts. Desired • Microsoft Access experience preferred but other experience in data analysis and reporting considered. • Ability to learn quickly. • Ability to work well within a team setting. • Ambition to grow professionally.
