    Position Summary: The Actuarial Analyst assists in the development of rating materials used in the sales of dental insurance products and provides ad hoc analysis and reporting. Essential Functions: • Work with underwriters, sales, and the Director of Actuarial to help develop plans for new lines of business or improve existing business from an actuarial and financial perspective • Performs data collection, mathematical analyses, modeling, and report generation to support the actuarial, underwriting, sales, and financial areas of the corporation (time will be divided between regular analysis of the business and in responding to ad hoc requests for data) • Assists with regular actuarial analysis pertaining to utilization trends, rating factors, and the development of the financial forecast model • Compiles data to complete corporate surveys • Assists with developing data and statistics in support of the provider recruiting and auditing areas • Recommends fee schedule assignments and loads fee schedules and provider assignments into admin systems • Works with IT on data and system issues as necessary • Maintains documentation on regular processes • Reviews existing reports, programs, and processes and when appropriate, under the guidance of the Director, makes improvements Education/Experience/Skills: • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in actuarial sciences, mathematics, statistics, economics, programming or related degree • Proven problem solving/analytical skills, including ability to review large sets of data and break it down into meaningful information • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, including macros • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment • Knowledge of relational database concepts • Detail oriented and thorough analysis and presentation skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to learn quickly and adjust to changing business dynamics • Ability to work well within a team setting and meet deadlines
