    Summary

    Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to perform various structural engineering analysis and design services, as part of our Structural Engineering Department located in Raleigh, NC. The selected individual will perform various structural engineering design/analysis tasks as well as serve as the primary liaison to our infrastructure inspections department regarding cross-discipline structural reporting.

    Positional Responsibilities

    This position is responsible for performing design, computations, and evaluations generally associated with tower structures and other aspects of the structural engineering discipline focused in the wireless telecommunications industry. The position will mesh field exposure to real-world construction and field- related issues with 2-D and 3-D structural design practices of tower infrastructure. Anticipated tasks include but are not limited to:

    Structural analysis and design utilizing manual calculations, commercially available software, and in-house tools.

    Programming in-house tools for analysis / design, calculation and report automation.

    Providing CAD support for the preparation of structural design drawings or inspection related services.

    Coordination with field personnel for structural mapping and inspection projects.

    Preparation of engineering reports related to the inspection, condition, structural design, structural analysis, or structural modification of tower infrastructure

    Review of jurisdictional and/or local governing agency requirements for structural analyses, design and construction.

    Review and QA/QC of technical reports completed by other engineering and technical staff.

    Communication with clients on design needs and production deadlines, under the direction of a Manager or an associated project lead.

    Provide training and guidance to CAD and other structural engineering staff/personnel

    The selected individual will be expected to have a thorough understanding of telecommunications structural and mapping services, procedures and techniques, preferably through demonstrated structural mapping and inspection field experience.

    Computer Software Experience

    Proficiency with commercial tower analysis software, e.g. tnxTower

    Familiarity with finite-element software, e.g. RISA 3D, with specific application to antenna mounts and other custom structures, is preferred

    Knowledge and use of foundation analysis / design software, including Caisson and LPILE

    Competent use of visual calculation software, e.g. MathCAD

    Experience with computer drafting software, AutoCAD 2012 or later, is required.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word is required.

    Programming experience with Visual Basic for Applications and other object-oriented languages is preferred.

    Required Experience and Supplementary Skills

    Engineering experience amounting to four (4) to six (6) years of experience in or other development based structural engineering practice is required. Additionally, the candidate should have experience relating to the following:

    Advanced knowledge of tower and foundation reinforcement methods

    Demonstrated experience in wireless telecommunication structure analysis and design

    Understanding of structure mapping and inspection techniques through previous mapping/inspection experience is strongly preferred

    Strong technical verbal / writing skills, and ability to read technical literature and engineering plans.

    If background and job experience fit, higher experience levels will be considered.

    Education

    Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution is required. Professional Engineer certification is preferred.
