Summary
Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to perform various civil engineering, site planning, erosion control, and hydrologic /hydraulic engineering tasks, including but not limited to small commercial site layouts, grading plans, qualitative stream stability assessments, hydrologic /hydraulic modeling, and scour investigations. Experience and/or knowledge of general grading, stormwater design principles, and an ability to evaluate the relationship between civil infrastructure and grading/topography, drainage patterns, the soil matrix, and erosion is desired.
Positional Responsibilities
Under the supervision of senior engineering professionals, the selected individual will be expected to:
Develop site plans for small commercial developments including overall site layouts, grading plans, erosion and sediment control plans, plan and elevation views, utility plans, etc.
Construct hydrologic/hydraulic models of river/stream systems in order to determine various hydraulic parameters and their effect on the built environment
Perform scour evaluations in accordance with HEC-18
Perform desktop stream stability assessments through the evaluation of various river geomorphology factors
Analyze stormwater/drainage systems to control erosion, stabilize infrastructure, and repair deteriorated roadway sections
Perform computer-aided design of stormwater channels, ditches, pipelines, and other drainage components to produce plans in accordance with various standards and criteria
Education
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution
Required Experience and Supplementary Skills
Engineering experience amounting to two (2) to four (4) years of experience in stormwater/hydraulic design, land development, or other natural resource based civil-engineering practice is required. Additionally, the candidate should have experience relating to the following:
General knowledge of the hydrologic and hydraulic principles associated with ravine and open channel systems, roadway drainage, bridge and culvert systems, and/or watershed modeling is required
E.I. (Engineering Intern) registration is required
If background and job experience fit, higher experience levels will be considered.
Computer Software Experience
Experience with computer drafting software, AutoCAD, is required.
Experience with modeling/design tools, such as TR-55/TR-20, Hydraflow, HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and/or ARCGIS is required. Experience using LIDAR data is highly desired.
Knowledge of riverine scour theory/principles is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
