    Position Overview

    Delta Utilities is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to serve as the information systems lead for a large-scale organization. This role will lead and oversee the strategic planning, development, implementation, and management of information systems (IS) and initiatives to support the organization’s objectives. The CIO will play a critical role in ensuring the effective and secure use of technology to optimize business processes, enhance efficiency, and drive innovation within the organization. This is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

    The ideal candidate will have previous experience in standing up processes and systems, strong communication and organization skills, and is a detail-oriented individual. This role involves collaboration with various teams, including engineering, procurement, and IT, as well as interacting with the organization’s key internal and external stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust IS infrastructure to support business operations, including spearheading the standup of IS processes and systems
    • Develop and implement IS strategy plans to align with overall business goals and collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for technology-driven business improvements
    • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of IS initiatives, maintaining awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
    • Establish and enforce IS policies, procedures, compliance, and standards to ensure the security and integrity of data and information systems
    • Collaborate with department heads and stakeholders across functions to understand their needs and provide technology-based solutions
    • Oversee vendor relationships and contracts to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness goals are met or exceeded
    • Monitor and control information systems costs, ensuring adherence to budget constraints as well as identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend adjustments as needed
    • Lead process improvement initiatives to make effective changes to increase the efficiency of systems implementation
    • Lead team meetings related to IS project status, data gathering, process improvements, and system implementation to internal and/or external stakeholders
    • Leverage reports and data to draw insights and present to leadership for data-driven decisions

    Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field is required; a combination of experience and education that clearly demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities may be suitable
    • A minimum of ten to fifteen years of related professional experience is required, with at least eight years in a leadership capacity, preferably in an industrial or utilities setting
    • Experience with large-scale systems and stand-up projects is strongly preferred
    • Proven experience as a CIO or in a senior IT leadership role
    • Relevant certifications strongly preferred, such as the CITM, CSM, ITMLP, and PMP certifications
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large sets of data and extract meaningful insights to inform decision making
    • Experience with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with team members at all levels of the organization
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and balance competing priorities
    • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
    • In-depth knowledge of information systems, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies

    About Delta Utilities

    Delta Utilities is a leading natural gas utility with a focus on safe, dependable service to customers. Headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, the utility will serve nearly 600,000 customers and become of the leading natural gas providers in Louisiana and Mississippi and among the top 40 providers in the United States.

    In 2023, Entergy announced that it had entered into an agreement with Delta Utilities to sell its Louisiana gas distribution business. The natural gas utility currently serves more than 200,000 customers across East Baton Rouge and Orleans parishes. In February 2024, Delta Utilities entered into an agreement with CenterPoint Energy to acquire its Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas businesses, which currently serve approximately 381,000 customers. Once the transactions are complete, Entergy's Louisiana natural gas operations and CenterPoint Energy's Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas systems will be operated by Delta Utilities.
