Are you passionate about helping educators design effective learning environments? Do you have a strong background in K–12 educational sales?  If the answer is yes and you live in Minneapolis, Chicago, Houston, Boston, Detroit / Grand Rapids, or San Francisco / Los Angeles, we should talk!

Demco has been serving libraries and education communities for 114 years and is the leading source for solutions that support lifelong learning and enrichment. We take pride in our personalized, consultative approach, and as our K–12 business continues to evolve and grow, we are looking to add to our team.

For the role of the Business Development Representative, we’re looking for a passionate professional with proven sales results in the education market. This person will build relationships with K–12 districts, architects and interior designers, and education service agencies to uncover opportunities where Demco can be a furniture and makerspace partner.

Success in this role means you are achieving your goals and have happy customers. You would accomplish this by listening to customer issues, recommending new solutions, and applying appropriate sales strategies, as well as sharing insights and identifying cross-sell opportunities. We hustle to provide the best customer experience and contact with customers will rely on both phone and in-person visits to K–12 schools and public libraries, as well as attending educational trade shows and special events.

The best qualified candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in business or education (or have equivalent work experience) with three to five years of proven success in consultative selling.  A history of working in learning environments is also preferred. You should be fluent with basic software like Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. We use Salesforce to manage our day.

This role has a base salary plus commission compensation program.  We also offer many benefits to keep you healthy and happy, including:

    • Options for health, dental, vision, and life insurances
    • Short-term and long-term disability coverage
    • Paid time off and eight paid holidays
    • Paid volunteer time
    • 401(k) and profit-sharing plans
    • Tuition reimbursement
    • Assistance in community giving
    • Health and wellness reimbursements
    • Scholarships for dependent children
    • Personal computer purchase plan
    • Cell phone reimbursement
