    Bienvivir All-Inclusive Senior Health (“Bienvivir”) is a community-based, patient-centered, comprehensive health care delivery system that advocates and promotes quality of life, optimum independence, dignity, and choices in a nurturing environment for frail seniors. Since 1987, Bienvivir has served the frail seniors of El Paso, Texas through the provision of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (“PACE”).

    PACE is a unique managed care benefit for frail seniors (referred to as participants) age 55 and older who are certified by the state as needing nursing home level care and who reside in a PACE service area. PACE programs coordinate and provide comprehensive medical and support services so that participants can remain independent and stay in their homes for as long as safely possible.

    Bienvivir is currently accepting applications for the following position:


    DENTAL ASSISTANT

    Under the supervision of the Dentist, the Dental Assistant provides a range of clinical, administrative, and staff support to the dental department. Assists in the performance of dental and radiography procedures; prepares and maintains dental equipment and supplies in

    accordance with established protocol, procedures, policies and standards, and assists in the coordination of day-to-day patient administration, records management, and office support activities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Provides assistance to dentist in the following:

    · Assisting in preparation and handing of instruments when the Dentist is performing dental procedures to include diagnostic, operative, periodontal, endodontic, preventive, and removable/fixed prosthodontic.

    · Mixing and dispensing of dental material such as IRM (restoring material) & alginate, amalgam, dry socket paste, etc.

    · Preparation of syringes, anesthetics and other supplies.

    · Suctioning of participants, performing dressing changes, and assisting participants to utilize management relaxation techniques.

    · Taking and recording vital signs of participant.

    · Assisting in conducting initial participant interview to gather and record pertinent information from participant regarding past and present medical and dental history and the chief complaint.

    · Charting of the mouth and conducting preliminary focused screening of the problem area.

    · Directing dental clinic participants while in the clinic.

    · Assisting in communication with primary care physician regarding verification that medical clearance has been obtained.

    · Assisting in entering follow up appointments into the Electronic Medical Records as ordered by the Dentist.

    · Assisting in monitoring, and maintenance of radiation safety procedures and protocols.

    · Providing post operation instructions to participants as ordered by Dentist, and making follow-up calls to check on participant status/health post operation as ordered by Dentist.

    · Monitoring and maintaining dental equipment, such as sterilizer, x-ray units, hand pieces, compressors, evacuator system and refrigerator.

    · Preparing, sterilizing, organizing, and setting up sterile dental equipment, instruments and supplies.

    · Ensuring that all dental instruments are cleaned, sterilized, packaged, sealed and documented in the daily record log according to established clinic guidelines and standards.

    · Performing and processing dental radiographs as ordered by Dentist.

    · Ordering and maintaining inventories of dental clinic supplies

    · Performing other duties as assigned.

    2. Adheres to Bienvivir Senior Health Services values, standards, and policies and procedures

    3. Attends monthly Center Staff meetings and other mandatory / trainings as scheduled.

    QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Graduate of dental assistant school

    2. Registered to perform radiology procedures with Texas State Board of Dental Examiners

    3. Certification in Radiology

    4. Certified Dental Assistant (preferred)

    5. CPR certification

    6. 3 years minimum experience required

    7. Bilingual verbal and written communications (English/Spanish) desired

    8. Maintenance of 12 hours of annual continuing education.

    9. 1 year experience in working with Elderly population

    · A thorough understanding of the Risk Management Framework and ability to demonstrate proper implementation.

    · Understand policy/directives, and ability to assess vulnerabilities of multiple commercial components and software to determine risk.

    · A basic understanding of system lifecycle development.

    · Ability to interface and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

    · Ability to be proactive and work independently within a small, cohesive group.

    · Experience with MCCAS.
