    Job Description

    This position serves as Dental Hygienist for NATIVE HEALTH. The Dental Hygienist performs prophylaxis and examines oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease. The dental hygienist performs deep scaling and root planning on patients who present with periodontal disease. The Dental Hygienist also educates patients on oral hygiene, takes radiographs, and applies fluoride or sealants. The Dental Hygienist reports to and works under the primary supervision of the Dental Practice Manager and the general supervision of the Dental Director.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    1. Responsible for conducting comprehensive dental assessments.
    2. Review’s patient’s medical and dental history for evidence of past and present health conditions.
    3. Documents all patient-provider interactions following health care standards.
    4. Participates as an active member of an integrated patient centered team.
    5. Provides oversight of Dental Assistants.
    6. Supports the organization as needed.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    1. Strong knowledge of current evidence-based Dentistry guidelines.
    2. Skills in providing diagnostic, preventive, and/or therapeutic services to patients.
    3. Knowledge of public health, community health, and population health.
    4. Ability to work effectively with staff members who have a variety of backgrounds and training.
    5. Ability to accomplish the quality and quantity of work expected within set limits of cost and time.
    6. Ability to plan own work and carry out assignments effectively.
    7. Ability to communicate with others effectively both orally and in writing in working out solutions to problems or questions relating to work.
    8. Proficient with computer-based applications such as Microsoft Office.
    9. Ability to maintain patient dental records and utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) and associated technologies in said maintenance.
    10. Ability to establish rapport and gain the confidence of others.
    11. Ability to function as a health care delivery team member.
    12. Ability to assess quality patient care.
    13. Ability to provide cross coverage at NATIVE HEALTH clinic locations as needed.
    14. Must be able to work with confidential material without betraying the trust of patients, families, or the agency.
    15. Knowledge of the cultural and social backgrounds of diverse, under or uninsured population.
    16. Demonstrate adherence to principles of confidentiality, scientific/academic integrity, informed consent, and ethical practice.
    17. Skill in providing excellent customer service and support; organizing and prioritizing workload.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    1. The contract Dental Hygienist shall possess either an RDH or BS degree from a dental hygiene school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association and have evidence of current licensure/registration.
    2. Within 90 days of hire, must become an affiliated practice Dental Hygienist with one of the Dentist at NATIVE HEALTH.
    3. Must have a valid and unrestricted Arizona driver’s license (within 30 days of hire if applicant is from out-of-state) with no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions in the last five years and no more than two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Must maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license during employment. Must be insurable under NATIVE HEALTH’s liability auto policy.
    4. Experience and training must have been progressive and responsible, demonstrating good knowledge of current principles, practices, methods, and techniques in the field pf podiatric medicine.
    5. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
    6. Current BLS certification is required.
    7. Current ACLS certification is preferred.
    8. Must pass a criminal background check with a Class I Fingerprint Clearance Card within the initial ninety (90) calendar days of employment.
    9. Must pass a drug and alcohol testing upon employment and submit to random testing during the course of employment.
    10. Must have an updated immunization (IZ) record prior to start of employment including COVID vaccination record.
    11. Must have a Tuberculosis (TB) skin test upon employment and employee health profile updated on an annual basis.
    12. Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within (90) calendar days of employment and maintain certification during employment.
