Dental Sterilization Aide / University of Maryland School of Dentistry
1.Prepares instruments for sterilization and decontamination.
2.Operates washer / sterilizer, heat sealer, autoclave, and sonic washer to clean, decontaminate, and sterilize instruments and equipment.
3.Adjusts and records pressure, temperature, and time in accordance with standard procedures.
4.Sorts and stores sterilized instruments and equipment in appropriate area.
5.Pre-packages cassettes wraps cassettes in sterile paper and attaches identification labels.
6.Loads instrument carts with cassettes, supplies, and equipment according to patient care requirements.
7.Transports carts to appropriate clinic or service area.
8.Receives, inspects, and verifies return of all contaminated instruments from students and faculty.
9.Maintains and updates logs and records of supply transactions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1 year of related experience in materials management, central sterilization or similar healthcare setting.
