    Job Description

    OVERALL SUMMARY  - POSITION DESCRIPTION

     

    The Assistant Local Broadcast Buyer assists in the coordination of the buying process. 

     As an entry level position, the Assistant Local Broadcast Buyer represents the start of a media career and is highly supervised by a Local Broadcast Buyer. 

     

    This position is essential in the day-to-day tactical management of the media buying account and requires an individual that works well in a team-based, fast paced, detail-oriented environment.   While advanced Media thinking is not expected, the successful Assistant Local Broadcast Buyer is resourceful and demonstrates the initiative to participate in advanced projects.

     

    The Assistant Local Broadcast Buyer position is training-intensive.  Aptitude for learning new skills (both technical and organic) and procedures is essential.  The Assistant Local Broadcast Buyer is encouraged to contribute ideas and insights that will benefit our clients.

     

    KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

     

    BUYING AND EXECUTION:

    ·       Issue and coordinate television, radio and cable avail requests

    ·       Order schedules via Order Manager

    ·       Obtain and check schedule confirmations

    ·       Coordinate competitive checks

    ·       Check and maintain discrepancy website

    ·       Assist buyer with discrepancy resolution

    ·       Handle makegoods in accordance to client guidelines with buyer supervision

    ·       Assist buyer with revisions and maintenance of schedules

    ·       Keep legible and organized paperwork and make certain buy folders include all pertinent reports and paperwork

    ·       Keep buyer informed of workload

     

    CLIENT & INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:

    ·       Support Buyers in preparing and delivering work to clients, colleagues within Carat

    ·       Assists buyers in maintaining client budget levels

    ·       Attends all status meetings when appropriate

    ·       Manage relationships with external client vendors

    ·       May be responsible for informing buying staff of new opportunities or issues

    ·       May participate and contribute in face to face client meetings

    ·       Engages with all work-related contacts in a professional & respectful manner

    ·       Possesses mature and professional business acumen in personal and written communications

     

    STRATEGIC THINKING & LEADERSHIP:

    ·       Keeps current with market research (industry periodicals, email newsletters, websites)

    ·       Demonstrates active listening skills and ability to apply learnings over time

    ·       Takes clear ownership of assigned tasks

     

    COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS:

    ·       Expresses oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications

    ·       Writes in a clear, compelling and concise manner

    ·       Organizes ideas and information logically and sequentially

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

    ·       Bachelor’s Degree

    ·       0-2 years industry experience

    ·       Strong math and analytical skills

    ·       Strong interest in and familiarity with media buying

    ·       Desire to learn more about Media Buying

    ·       Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

    ·       Ability to learn server-based software and tools

    EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO PROCEED TO THE NEXT LEVEL:

    ·       Demonstrated passion and curiosity for Media Buying

    ·       Thorough understanding of the media buying process,  media department and inter-department relationships

    ·       Proficient knowledge of  Media Buying tools/software

    ·       Ownership of assigned market

    ·       Demonstrated ability to generate and present well-considered ideas and solutions

    ·       Capable of developing and presenting error-free, compelling, persuasive and innovative client data solutions

    ·       Thrives in a fast pace, constantly changing environment; can adapt to changes in client objectives, priorities or budgets while minimizing impact on project momentum

    ·       Capable of managing multiple deliverables and ability to seamlessly transition among them

    ·       Participate in client calls, meetings and presentations

    ·       Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks

    ·       Leadership Capability
