Candidates applying for this | | position should have excellent written and verbal communications skills, | | be creative, organized, and a strong team player. | | | | The Patent Agent role has diverse responsibilities including U.S. patent | | drafting, U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, patent administrative | | proceedings, IP portfolio strategy, invention development, inventor | | education, patentability, and landscape analysis.   | | | | Prepare and prosecute high quality patent applications. | | | | - U.S. and foreign patent prosecution. | | - Patent administrative proceedings. | | - IP portfolio strategy. | | - Patentability and landscape analysis. | | - Assess freedom-to-operate and counsel R&D colleagues. | | - Manage and improve processes for tracking innovation and competitor | | IP activity | | - Advise colleagues regarding IP-related issues, including technology | | transfer and legal and policy developments. | | - Support oppositions, post-grant challenges, licensing matters, | | and disputes. | | - Outstanding writing skills as demonstrated by original writing | | samples of patent applications, prosecution submissions, | | memorandums, and other communications. | | - Ability to work independently and proactively with | | minimal direction. | | - Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and ability | | to prioritize projects and meet aggressive deadlines. | | | | EDUCATION | | | | - Advanced (M.S. or Ph.D.) degree with focus on microbiology, | | biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, or similar disciplines. | | | | REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS | | | | - Admission to practice before the US Patent & Trademark Office. | | - Two (2) – Three (3) years of experience preparing and prosecuting | | patent applications. | | - Previous experience supporting biotechnology and/or life sciences | | practice groups or research and development teams | | - Writing samples will be requested. | | | | DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS | | | | - Experience in genetic analysis. | | - Experience in in-vitro clinical laboratory tests | | - Experience working in an in-house setting. | | - Post-graduate R&D laboratory experience for two (2) or more years. | | - Law firm experience is strongly preferred. | | | | ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: | | An Equal Opportunity Employer.
