GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The LIMS Engineer will join the Software Engineering Team in the Laboratory Operations Department at DermTech. The LIMS Engineer reports to the Director of Software Engineering.

The Software Engineering Team is a small group of experienced professionals responsible for developing pragmatic software solutions to enable DermTech to scale laboratory operations to keep pace with growing demand for our products. The Software Engineering Team streamlines laboratory processes by developing laboratory automation, analytics pipelines, and integrating with enterprise LIS, CRM and ERP systems.

DermTech employs a combination of commercially available, and custom software to achieve its goals. We focus on code testability, maintainability, and documentation to develop stable and robust solutions.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Formalize assay processes from R&D and configure LIMS to implement processes in the CLIA lab
• Identify and implement solutions to streamline processes and reduce opportunities for human error
• Collaborate with stakeholders in Bioinformatics, Clinical Operations, and IT to connect the LIMS to analytic pipelines and enterprise business systems
• Manage laboratory data in compliance with HIPAA/HITECH regulations
• Interact with commercial, operational, and scientific departments to support product launches and updates

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

• Experience administering a commercial LIMS/LIS platform, Sapio Exemplar preferred
• Experience consuming HTTP APIs
• Experience with a scripting language, JavaScript preferred
• Able to clearly define and document project requirements and implementations
• Familiar with cloud computing concepts
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Understanding of HIPAA, CAP, and CLIA regulations
• B.S. in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or equivalent experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience integrating with ERP and CRM systems
• Familiarity with Automated Liquid Handers, such as the Hamilton STAR platform
• Experience with Agile development, hands-on experience with the Atlassian platform is desirable
