    The pay range for this position is $20-25 per hour depending on experience. We also offer comprehensive health, vision and dental insurance and cover 90% of the employee premium.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Coding and Abstraction: Read and abstract physician office and operative notes to accurately apply ICD-10-CM, CPT®, HCPCS Level II, and modifier coding assignments for a variety of dermatology services.
    • Surgical Coding Support: Assist senior coders with the review and coding of complex surgical procedures, including excisions, closures, and Mohs surgery, with a focus on learning and development.
    • Denial Resolution: Support the RCM team by researching coding-related denials and helping to gather documentation for appeals.
    • Auditing and Compliance: Participate in periodic documentation audits to help ensure compliance and stay up-to-date with the changing landscape in dermatology coding.
    • Research and Problem-Solving: Use your resourcefulness to research coding questions and present findings to team leaders and Account Managers.
    • Provider Communication Support: Assist in preparing clear and concise communications for providers regarding coding questions under the guidance of senior team members.
    • Resource Development: Contribute to the creation and updating of coding training documents and resources for internal staff.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience: 2-3 years of medical coding experience, with a strong aptitude for or prior exposure to dermatology.
    • Certification: CPC, CPCD, CPC-A, or equivalent certification is required. Candidates actively studying for certification exams will also be considered
    • Knowledge Base: Solid understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines, including the use of modifiers and NCCI edits.
    • Eagerness to Learn: Must be a quick learner with a demonstrated ability to absorb new information and adapt to new technologies and processes.
    • Resourcefulness: Highly resourceful with the ability to independently find answers and propose solutions.
    • Tech-Savvy: Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with or an interest in leveraging AI-powered tools for coding and workflow efficiency is a major plus.
    • Communication & Teamwork: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment, maintaining an approachable and collaborative demeanor with colleagues.
