Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dermatology Medical Billing Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing, with specific experience in dermatology. Familiarity with the Modernizing Medicine / EMA practice management system is highly preferred. This role is critical in ensuring the financial health of our practice through efficient and accurate billing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Claim Management: Ensure all claims are accurately processed and submitted in a timely manner. Review and verify patient billing information for completeness and accuracy.
ERA Posting: Efficiently post and reconcile Electronic Remittance Advice (ERAs), ensuring all payments, adjustments, and denials are accurately recorded.
Denial Management: Investigate and work on denials, identifying the reasons for rejections, and taking appropriate actions to resolve them.
Surgery Pre-Certifications: Conduct pre-certification processes for surgeries, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained in advance.
Patient Billing Inquiries: Address patient billing inquiries, providing clear and concise explanations regarding their bills and insurance coverage.
Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits, and update patient files with accurate insurance information.
Accounts Receivable Management: Monitor and manage the accounts receivable ledger to ensure timely collection of payments.
Reporting: Generate billing reports and analyze data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement in the billing process.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations, as well as adherence to payer contract guidelines.
Additional Billing Tasks: Perform other standard billing tasks as required, including but not limited to, updating billing software, coordinating with other departments, and participating in team meetings.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in medical billing, with a focus on dermatology.
Proficiency in Modernizing Medicine / EMA practice management system.
Strong understanding of medical billing procedures and regulations.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Certification in medical billing and coding is a plus.
