    Check Out Clerk Are you looking to join a small and caring team? Desai Eye Care is seeking a new Checkout Clerk to join our growing ophthalmology practice in Lafayette, LA. We are looking for a smart, energetic individual with long-term potential! You will be responsible for answering phones, the checkout process, scheduling appointments, and collecting deductibles, and copays. Responsibilities: • Answer phones, schedule appointments • Insurance verification • Determine deductibles, copays & collect them • Serve and protect the clinic by adhering to professional standards, policies, and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements • Assist in surgical scheduling, referral management • Answer the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent manner using these communication skills; be an active listener, have good phone manners, screen calls, use tact, ask questions, and maintain confidentiality Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High school diploma or equivalent • Knowledge of insurance • Knowledge of patient accounts • CPC ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Strong organizational and communication skills including the ability to manage interactions with difficult people • Professional appearance and demeanor • Ability to work cooperatively with others including but not limited to the physician and other employees • Computer skills • Ability to work with an Electronic Medical Records system and Practice Management System • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding procedures • Knowledge of medical terminology • Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively • Effective time-management • Basic Word and Excel program knowledge • Telephone etiquette • Loyalty • Strong ability to work with others Compensation: $12 - $14 hourly
