    Job Overview

    Desert Sun Ranch Academy is seeking passionate and dedicated educators to join our team in delivering a unique, personalized learning experience for students with diverse learning needs.

    Our serene 5-acre ranch provides the perfect setting for nature-based learning. Mornings are spent outdoors engaging with animals, exploring nature, and developing social-emotional skills. Afternoons transition to a charming, converted farmhouse where traditional academics are emphasized. We believe deeply in creating inclusive, child-centered environments that support academic, emotional, and social growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Deliver individualized lesson plans free from mandatory curriculum constraints

    • Provide educational programming for up to 8 students at a time (1:4 max staff/student ratio)

    • Develop and implement customized lessons for students with disabilities

    • Use various teaching strategies and educational technologies to enhance engagement

    • Regularly assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed

    • Collaborate with parents, therapists, and fellow educators to support each child holistically

    • Work closely with staff and the on-site occupational therapist to ensure high-quality instruction

    • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture

    • Maintain student records related to academic progress, behavior, and ISP goals

    • Assist in developing and updating Individualized Support Plans (ISPs)

    • Participate in professional development and training opportunities to remain current in best practices

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field

    • Valid teaching certification (Special Education preferred) or willingness to obtain within agreed timeline

    • Experience with students with developmental disabilities preferred

    • Strong grasp of childhood development and personalized lesson planning

    • Familiarity with special education tools and learning technologies

    • Clear, professional communication skills (written and verbal)

    • Adaptable teaching style to meet various learning needs

    • Flexibility to support in various capacities in a small team setting

    • Comfort in an outdoor, ranch-style environment

    • Current Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card with IVP endorsement

    • Must remain current on recommended vaccinations or submit a physician-approved medical exemption

    Compensation & Schedule

    • Job Type: Full-Time (Part-Time roles may be available)

    • Salary: $50,000 – $65,000/year (Full-Time; pro-rated for Part-Time)
