    JUNIOR ARCHITECT, DRAFTSMAN & BUILDING CODE SPECIALIST

    Design Appruv, Inc. is a rapidly growing architectural design studio startup looking for a Junior Architect/Draftsman with an overwhelming entrepreneurial spirit! Our proprietary architectural design process for Residential Remodels, Renovations, and Backyard Homes (Granny Flats/ADUs) emphasizes building code compliance to ensure we can provide seamless and efficient permit processing experience. The ideal candidate must be ready to adapt quickly, keep up with rapid growth, and work amongst a collaborative team of design professionals

    1. General Responsibilities 

      1. Adhere projects to established budget
      2. Project procedure scheduling and logistical organization
      3. Management of 4+ simultaneous Residential/Commercial projects
      4. Presentational development of proposals, designs, sketches and technical documentation for Client
      5. Communicate effectively with other admin and design staff and supporting design consultants
      6. Provide detailed Revit and CAD drawings adhering to existing company standards
      7. Assembly of drawing sets organized per company drawing standards
    2. Schematic/Iterative Design

      1. Execute several site measurements weekly throughout San Diego County
      2. Participate and guide design team through rapid office design charrettes
      3. Serve as creative director for your own assigned projects - context, building materials, and precedent analysis
      4. Revit/Sketchup 3D conceptual design - exemplify conceptual designs through hand sketches, diagramming, and digital renderings
      5. Provide on-site hand sketched measurements and digitize them in Revit/AutoCAD 
      6. Advanced digital construction of 3D Revit Models and iterative changes
    3. Construction Documents and Details

      1. Develop and design custom wall assemblies
      2. Prepare and export full drawings ready for building permit submission in Revit/AutoCAD
    4. California Building Code

      1. Pre-project planning

        1. Determine parameters for architectural design through parcel planning and municipal research
        2. Perform code analysis to establish potential design parameters
      2. Manage logistics of new submissions & review cycle resubmissions at Planning & Development Services

      3. Compliance review - every project must undergo thorough building code compliance check prior to submission

        1. Preparation and implementation of all building code material for drawing sets
        2. Correct drawings per review issues itemized by Planning & Development Services
    5. Construction Administration

      1. Serve as liaison between Builders and Clients through the construction “build-out” phase

     

    PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS

    1. Bachelor's Degree in Architecture (B-Arch or M-Arch, preferred)
    2. Architectural Design & Project Management - Minimum 2 years of experience with Residential New-Builds, Remodels & Renovations
    3. Proven strong conceptual design and schematic design skills
    4. Advanced knowledge of California Building Codes, Construction Types, ADA/FHA
    5. Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
    6. Reliable form of transportation

     REQUIRED SKILLS & PROFICIENCIES

    1. Autodesk Revit - 2+ years
    2. Autodesk AutoCAD - 2+ years
    3. Advanced Adobe Illustrator & Acrobat
    4. 3D Modeling - Sketchup, VRAY, Rhino or Similar - 2+ years
    5. Proficient in Adobe Photoshop & Indesign
    6. Google Drive, Docs & Sheets
    7. Microsoft Office - Word & Excel
