    Position Overview

    We are seeking a detail-oriented Design Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of commercial ice machines and refrigeration systems.

    The ideal candidate will bring hands-on product engineering experience, strong CAD capabilities, and practical knowledge of refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, heat transfer, sheet metal design, and manufacturing processes.

    Key Responsibilities

    Design and develop commercial cuber, flaker, nugget, pearl, and specialty ice-making equipment.

    Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.

    Support new product development from initial concept through validation and production launch.

    Evaluate thermal performance, airflow, structural integrity, and refrigeration system efficiency.

    Integrate compressors, condensers, evaporators, water circulation components, and dispensing systems.

    Build, test, validate, and troubleshoot prototypes and production-ready equipment.

    Partner with manufacturing teams to improve manufacturability, assembly efficiency, quality, and cost.

    Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to reliability, energy efficiency, and product performance.

    Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for production and field issues.

    Coordinate with suppliers on component design, development, testing, and qualification.

    Maintain technical reports, test procedures, engineering changes, and product documentation.

    Ensure designs comply with applicable UL, NSF, CE, DOE, and refrigeration safety requirements.

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

    Three to seven years of product design, refrigeration, HVAC/R, or equipment engineering experience.

    Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or comparable 3D CAD software.

    Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and airflow.

    Experience with sheet metal, plastics, fabrication, and electromechanical assemblies.

    Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, DFM, DFA, and engineering change processes.

    Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience designing commercial refrigeration, foodservice, HVAC/R, or ice-making equipment.

    Knowledge of R290 or other environmentally responsible refrigerants.

    Familiarity with UL and NSF certification processes.

    Hands-on prototype development and testing experience.

    Experience with ERP or PDM systems.
