    About Espiritu Studio

At Espiritu Studio, we design and develop innovative physical products that make a real difference—from medical devices that improve lives to consumer products and advanced engineering projects.

We’re a small, collaborative team that values curiosity, creativity, and thoughtful engineering. Interns here don’t just observe—they contribute, learn, and grow alongside experienced designers and engineers.

    Role Overview

We’re looking for a Design Engineer Intern who enjoys both creative problem-solving and detail-focused engineering work. In this role, you’ll work closely with our mechanical engineering team to create high-quality 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks, primarily supporting a U.S. Air Force structural documentation program.

You’ll also have opportunities to contribute to medical device and consumer product projects , where you’ll see how ideas move from concept to prototype to real-world use. If you’re someone who likes both technical precision and hands-on design work, this role is a great fit.

We especially encourage students and early-career engineers who are eager to learn, ask questions, and build confidence in their technical skills.

    What You’ll Do

    CAD & Engineering Design

    • Create and review detailed SolidWorks part and assembly models
    • Produce clear, professional 2D drawings for real client projects
    • Turn engineering requirements and redlines into production-ready documentation
    • Help maintain organized drawing packages and revision histories

    Quality & Attention to Detail

    • Carefully review your own work and provide second checks to ensure accuracy and completeness
    • Identify small issues early and help improve documentation quality
    • Contribute to a culture where quality and learning go hand-in-hand

    Collaboration & Project Support

    • Work directly with engineers and project managers in a supportive team environment
    • Help track revisions, milestones, and deliverables across multiple projects
    • Ask questions, share ideas, and grow your confidence in real-world engineering work

    Process Improvement

    • Help improve CAD and documentation workflows
    • Support development of templates, macros, or lightweight tools (SolidWorks, Excel, or Python)

    What You’ll Need

    • Experience using SolidWorks (school projects are absolutely welcome)
    • Ability to create part models and basic 2D drawings
    • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
    • Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow your skills
    • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
    • U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship available)
    • Willingness to complete a background check

    Helpful but Not Required

If you have any of these, great—but you do not need all of them to apply:

    • Exposure to model-based definition (MBD)
    • Experience with QA/QC or structured documentation
    • Basic scripting or automation (Python, VBA, or macros)
    • Familiarity with project workflows or engineering documentation
    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CAD, or a related field

    What You’ll Gain

    • Hands-on experience working on real products—not just practice projects
    • Mentorship from experienced engineers who enjoy helping interns grow
    • Exposure to both technical documentation and product development
    • A supportive environment where asking questions is encouraged
    • The opportunity to build confidence in your engineering skills

Top-performing interns may be considered for full-time roles after the internship.

    Additional Details

    • No travel required
    • Benefits are not provided for this internship

We strongly encourage candidates from all backgrounds and experience levels to apply—even if you don’t meet every qualification listed. If you’re motivated to learn and excited about engineering, we’d love to hear from you.
