    Design Engineer (Mechanical/Industrial) – Houston, TX (Onsite)

    Our client, a growing manufacturer serving the industrial process and energy sectors, is seeking a Design Engineer to join their Houston-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to gain hands-on experience working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams on custom-engineered products.

    Responsibilities

    • Create and revise detailed engineering and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
    • Support the design and development of engineered products used in industrial and process applications.
    • Perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations to support product design and customer requirements.
    • Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure designs meet customer specifications and industry standards.
    • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, procedures, inspection plans, and project deliverables.
    • Assist with troubleshooting production and installation challenges by working directly with shop personnel and project stakeholders.
    • Review customer specifications and ensure project requirements are accurately incorporated into designs.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining engineering templates and design libraries.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
    • 1–4 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, fabrication, industrial equipment, process systems, or a related industry.
    • Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
    • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, and technical documentation.
    • Familiarity with ASME codes, pressure-containing equipment, piping systems, or industrial products is a plus.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel.

    Preferred Experience

    • Exposure to pressure vessels, piping systems, flow measurement equipment, or other engineered industrial products.
    • Experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
    • Familiarity with engineering calculation software is a plus.
