    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Design Engineer – Skids is responsible for the design, integration, and release of skid-mounted systems and assemblies. This role oversees product development from concept through production release and ensures designs are structurally sound, manufacturable, fully documented, and aligned with customer requirements and MXS engineering standards. The position plays a key role in MXS’s most complex and highly customized products and plays an important role in advancing engineering quality, product consistency, and scalable manufacturing practices.

    This position works cross-functionally with Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and external engineering resources to produce complex industrial and power-related skid systems. The Design Engineer is responsible for setting the standards for engineering new product introduction (NPI), engineering change management, and design-for-manufacturing initiatives.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Develop and maintain 3D assembly models for skid-mounted systems and industrial assemblies

    Manage product releases, revision control, and engineering change processes

    Prepare engineering packages and coordinate with third-party engineering firms

    Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure manufacturable and production-ready designs

    Lead layout integration of structural, electrical, conduit, piping, and mechanical components

    Develop and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, drawings, and bills of materials

    Lead technical reviews and resolve design-related issues prior to release

    Lead technical support during production, first article builds, and field issue resolution

    Drive new product introduction and continuous improvement initiatives

    Ensure compliance with MXS design standards, drafting standards, and applicable codes (create or modify internal standards as needed)

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Work Experience:

    5+ years of mechanical or multi-discipline engineering experience preferred

    Experience with skid-mounted systems, industrial equipment, or power conversion systems strongly preferred

    Experience in manufacturing or industrial product environments preferred

    Experience with engineering release and revision control processes

    Preferred Skills:

    Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor, will consider SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms on a case-by-case basis

    Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards

    Expertise with industrial equipment integration and multi-disciplinary assemblies

    Expertise in design-for-manufacturing principles

    Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline required

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used, as necessary.
