Position Overview:
As the Design Engineer, you will be a key member of the corporate drafting team responsible for the development and optimization of design specifications for our precast concrete products. This role involves collaborating closely with production teams, sales, consulting engineering firms, and field stakeholders to ensure that our designs not only meet technical requirements but also exceed customer expectations.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Develop and design precast concrete products according to project specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate with production, consulting engineering firms, sales, and field teams to ensure designs are feasible and manufacturable.
- Conduct feasibility studies and analyses to validate design concepts and optimize production efficiency.
- Prepare detailed production and presentation specifications using CAD software, specifically tailored for precast applications.
- Review and modify designs based on feedback from project teams.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Produce accurate installation plans for the installation department to ensure a smooth and efficient process adhering to standard policies and procedures.
- Maintain thorough documentation of design processes, changes, and decisions related to precast projects.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues during the manufacturing and installation phases.
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices related to precast concrete engineering.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (PE not required).
- Military experience may be accepted in place of secondary education or civilian certifications.
- At least 3 years of experience in design engineering, preferably in the precast concrete industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, etc.) with an understanding of precast design principles.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, fostering collaboration across departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (PE not required).
- Precast concrete industry experience. (internships and co-op experience are acceptable).
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to precast concrete design and construction.
Pay and Benefits:
- Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range, which will depend on your skills, qualifications, and the base pay for this role is between $60,000 and $90,000.
