    Xavier University, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, is currently accepting applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Biomechanics. This position includes the instruction of one lecture course housed within the Exercise Science program in the Department of Sport Studies.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications to teach Biomechanics at Xavier University include a master’s or terminal degree or have taken 18 credit hours of graduate work, in the following fields: Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics, Nutrition, Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or Motor Behavior; or have a minimum of 5 years of experience in exercise science and a relevant certification in the field of exercise science, and/or previous teaching experience at an accredited college or university.

    This position will include teaching one three-hour credit course. This course will count towards one elective in exercise science major coursework. Contracts for adjunct faculty members are issued on a semester basis.

    DUTIES INCLUDE:

    • Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
    • Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons including an appropriate course syllabus clearly describing course expectations.
    • Provide appropriate course assessments designed to adequately assess student’s learning in connection with Xavier’s Core Curriculum.
    • Use Xavier’s campus-wide academic program, Canvas, to provide course information and an electronic record of student’s progress on a regular basis.

    IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

    • Follow all work safety policies, programs and guidelines
    • Set up and operate industrial machinery in accordance with LQC’s established standards, processes and work instructions
    • Maintain proficiency by performing the skill on a regular schedule
    • Make minor repairs to equipment
    • Operate and monitor equipment, notifying appropriate personnel of any malfunctions and/or safety issues/concerns and maximize overall equipment efficiency for production rate, first time quality and downtime
    • Perform necessary pre-operation and/or shut down activities to ensure proper equipment operation
    • Ensure product quality by conducting visual and tool measurement inspections, monitoring and adjusting machine output settings, and conducting basic quality control and quality assurance tests
    • Drive quality standards and operational efficiencies, offering recommendations for improvements, as you contribute directly to overall plant operations
    • Coordinate the efforts of other team members assigned to support machine operation
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area
    • Communicate effectively to all other team members
    • Problem solving for continuous improvement and equipment trouble shooting

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • A minimum of 2-3 years of work experience within a manufacturing environment preferred
    • Experience operating die-cut machinery preferred
    • Must be able to be certified as General Factory and/or Production Assistant Machine Operator on their assigned machine where applicable
    • Mobile equipment certified (where applicable)
    • Ability to coach and mentor employees
    • Ability to read a tape measure
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds
    • Basic computer skills such as typing, printing and data entry
    • Basic math (addition, subtraction and fractions)
    • Ability to read work instructions (i.e. SOP’s, Specs, etc.)
