    HIRING SALARY:       $45,359.00 - $49,677.16 annually; all salary calculations to start at the minimum salary  

    HOURS:                     40 hours per week.  Flexible work week depending on simulation’s schedule.

    MAJOR FUNCTION:  The Simulation Program Manager is housed in the Health Care Professions (HCP) Division at the Ghazvini Center and reports directly to the Dean.  The Program Manger is responsible for providing leadership for the development and implementation of health care simulation programs.  Primary duties will include, but are not limited to: 

    • Provides college leadership for the development and implementation of simulation programs that meet the needs for educating students in the Healthcare Professions and for refreshing and enhancing the skills and knowledge of employers and employees in the healthcare community. Researches and recommends to faculty and program chairs simulation program options for lab experiences in Healthcare Professions that meet curriculum and accreditation standards. Represents the College in marketing and developing Simulation Center Services in the educational and local healthcare community.                                  

    • Assists the faculty and Program Chairs/Director in the selection, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of patient simulation; provide appropriate patient scenarios that can objectively measure student competency on various skills and abilities. Recommends appropriate patient simulation equipment and software, training programs, and support systems for continuous development and improvement of simulation programs.                       

    • Provides leadership and support for teaching faculty and others in patient simulation scenarios and usage; serves as a mentor and facilitator for faculty and others wanting to use patient simulated activities; and promotes an environment which fosters creativity, responsiveness, and accountability. Provides leadership and support to implement necessary changes to assure that the Simulation Program abides by the accrediting body’s standards. 

    • Supervises the Simulation Center activities and staff. Collects, compiles and analyzes simulation statistical usage data. Supervises planning, development, implementation and evaluation of patient simulation scenarios that can objectively measure student competency on various skills and abilities and that meet regulatory body standards for competency testing and evaluation of JCAHO specified skills and activities. 

    • Promotes collaboration between center staff and faculty and program chairs in the development and coordination of computer generated clinical simulation scenarios for patient simulator clinical experiences. 

    • Provides support and guidance to the faculty and others in the areas of patient simulation development, delivery and evaluation. Collaborates with faculty and others on appropriate use of patient simulation and on appropriate use of patient simulation for objective evaluation purposes. Collaborates with faculty and chairs/director to develop simulation scenarios that meet regulatory bodies standards for competency testing and evaluation of JCAHO specified skills and activities.  Provides leadership in developing and maintaining Simulation Center Schedules. 

    • Develops the annual budget and staffing plans. Develops and implements Center procedures to assure efficient and effective use of time and space, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facilities, and center protocols. Develops and implements a plan for continued professional growth of the programs to assure current technologies and techniques are available through the Simulation center. Develops and Implements preventative maintenance and repairs of the Simulation Center’s equipment to maintain the center at its highest readiness possible in order to minimize down time. Collaborates with Healthcare Professions Dean to develop a Simulation Program strategic plan to achieve the College’s mission and goals. Complies with College and Division Policy and Procedures. Plans and oversees an assessment plan that includes collection and analysis of usage data, student and customer feedback, and appropriate performance data.

     

    MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.  Preference will be given for the earned bachelors, having also attained a health-related certification or licensure in a healthcare professional program, such as those offered at TCC.  Preference will also be given to candidates with at least one-year experience working with high fidelity simulators, multimedia equipment, and experience with different types of medical equipment.  Excellent computer proficiency in PC and Mac-based software applications is a plus. 

    SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of basic health care principles and skills relative to health care professions. Knowledge of simulation equipment use, abilities, and maintenance. Knowledge in the differences in abilities of various simulators. Knowledge of local, state and national issues relating to health care professions. Knowledge of theories, practices, and modern trends of health care professions.  Knowledge of techniques utilized in developing and generating usable patient simulation scenarios.   Working knowledge of word processing software and applicable health care software. Mechanical and computer skills to maintain simulators. Develop and maintain Simulation Center schedules. Assist faculty and program chairs/director in selection or development of computer generated patient scenarios for mechanical simulator use by faculty, students and health care professionals. Educate and train health care faculty and others on appropriate simulation use including simulator start-up and shut-down processes and evaluation purposes. Assist in development and maintenance of the “simulated hospital” environment. Maintain Simulation Center statistical data. Maintain simulators through cleaning and routine maintenance. Demonstrated organizational and leadership ability. Ability to work with faculty/organizations to select appropriate simulation scenarios. Ability to assist faculty and program chairs/director in the selection, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the patient simulation to provide appropriate patient scenarios that can objectively measure student competency on various skills and abilities. Ability to maintain current knowledge of simulation usage and health care skills and issues. Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and academic leaders on campus and throughout the State. Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of simulated scenarios. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to collect, collate and analyze simulation statistical data. Ability to work effectively with community agencies in developing contracts for Simulation Center services.
