About the Opportunity: We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Urban Designer / Design Principal to join our Seattle studio. This leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives on large-scale, complex projects and wants to drive innovation in urban design, land use planning, and transportation-oriented development.
As a senior leader, you’ll guide cross-functional teams in the delivery of transformative projects that prioritize the human experience, sustainability, and community connection, particularly in areas surrounding major transit and infrastructure investments. You’ll play a central role in shaping strategy, mentoring talent, and engaging with stakeholders throughout the Pacific Northwest.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead Visionary Projects: Direct the design and execution of urban-scale initiatives that balance mobility, livability, and sustainable growth.
- Drive Studio Strategy: Provide direction and expertise in urban design and planning efforts across multidisciplinary teams.
- Manage with Purpose: Oversee the full project lifecycle, from early concept through delivery, ensuring timely, high-quality outcomes aligned with client goals.
- Build Client Relationships: Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and community partners, cultivating relationships that support long-term collaboration.
- Champion Design Excellence: Inspire your team and elevate the design process through a strong emphasis on innovation, quality, and detail.
- Grow Regional Presence: Collaborate on business development initiatives to strengthen market presence in the Northwest, identifying new opportunities and helping shape strategic direction.
Qualifications:
- You bring 20+ years of experience in urban design or architecture, with a deep understanding of public-sector projects and regional planning landscapes.
- Project Experience: Urban Design, Transportation, Public projects
- Preferred to have a Master’s degree in Urban Design, Architecture, or Planning.
- You have led large, interdisciplinary teams and thrive in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- You’re well-versed in regional policies and frameworks, especially across the Puget Sound Region.
- Your communication skills are exceptional, whether presenting ideas visually or facilitating tough conversations with community leaders.
- You have a keen eye for design, a knack for storytelling through graphics, and are comfortable juggling multiple priorities.
- You’re proficient in a broad range of digital tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, ESRI, Bluebeam, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

- Experience with various contracting arrangements
- Strong background in stakeholder engagement and navigating politically sensitive environments
