Desktop & Sys Administration Manager

100% Onsite Monday-Friday in San Diego

6-12 month Contract-to-hire Salary: $120,000 - $130,000 DOE + great benefits

One of the most reputable medical institutions in CA is seeking an experienced Desktop and System Administrator Manager to work in their corporate office in beautiful San Diego. The successful applicant will lead and oversee the administration and support of both end-user desktop systems and the broader IT infrastructure including servers, networks, and cybersecurity. This position will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of all internal systems that directly support patient care and hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of desktop and system administrators, ensuring responsive and high-quality IT support across the hospital.
• Oversee the maintenance, upgrades, and administration of desktop hardware, operating systems, and applications used across clinical and administrative departments.
• Direct system administration of servers, networks, and security systems to ensure HIPAA compliance and high availability.
• Lead incident response and disaster recovery planning related to IT systems.
• Evaluate and deploy new technologies that align with the hospital’s digital transformation goals.
• Ensure ticket resolution, system documentation, and training are executed consistently.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience required).
• 7+ years of experience in desktop and systems administration, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role overseeing technical teams.
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft enterprise environments, virtualization platforms, and networking fundamentals.
• Familiarity with healthcare IT systems, electronic health records (EHR), and HIPAA compliance strongly preferred.
• Certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), Cisco (CCNA), or ITIL a plus.
