Desmos Studio is on a mission to help everyone learn math, love math, and grow with math. We do this by building a free suite of math tools, now used by more than 75 million people around the world (and growing!). As a Public Benefit Corporation, we’re committed to keeping our core products freely available for individual use, not relying on external funding, never allowing 3rd party advertising, and never selling our users’ data. We’re able to stand behind those commitments on the back of being healthily profitable with a transparent business model: we license our software to other companies to incorporate into their products.

We’re looking to hire Desmos Studio’s first Graph Specialist to collaborate in providing curated support to our users/customers, and aid in the exploration/development cycle of upcoming Desmos Studio product releases. This role is a great fit for you if you enjoy creating with the Desmos Graphing Calculator – you love staying up to date on the cutting edge features of our tools but also delight in introducing early users to long-standing features, and helping everyone discover their inner mathematician. You take satisfaction in elegant solutions and simple explanations for complicated features and concepts. And you love working together collaboratively, with partners, with users, and with the rest of the team.

ON YOUR FIRST DAY YOU SHOULD SHOW UP READY TO:

    • Demonstrate proficiency in the Desmos Graphing Calculator with sliders, lists, restrictions, parametric equations, and actions.
    • Quickly pick up the skills needed to support future product releases that are currently in development.
    • Support a user or licensing partner grow in their understanding of our products, striving to make learning accessible to all.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN MORE ABOUT AFTER YOU’RE HIRED:

    • Our philosophies for equity, product design, and community engagement.
    • The processes and tools we use to collaborate and organize our work such as Zendesk, Google Docs, Slack, and Github.
    • The various resources (blog posts, video tutorials, user guides, etc.) used to support community learning about our math tools.

    WITHIN YOUR FIRST MONTH YOU’LL:

    • Introduce yourself on Slack and spend time getting to know our small, mighty team (there’s fewer than 20 of us today!)
    • Shadow a Support Team colleague as they navigate the various aspects we support within a user’s journey— from updating a Getting Started article in our Help Center to logging a feature request.
    • Be available, as-needed, to support graphing-related questions from users and licensing partners.
    • Provide feedback on existing Graphing Calculator features as well as suggestions for ways to enhance a user’s experience when navigating future product releases.

WITHIN YOUR FIRST THREE MONTHS YOU’LL:

    • Collaborate on resources to guide both new and advanced users as they further develop their graphing skills.
    • Work alongside the Support team to engage the community through graph challenges, art contests, and content for our social media pages.
    • Answer user questions about advanced mathematical concepts and graphing features.
    • Join calls with prospective Desmos API licensing partners to learn about their use cases and demo the power of our math tools.

    WITHIN YOUR FIRST YEAR YOU’LL:

    • Contribute to community engagement campaigns on social media by creating delightful graphs, tutorials, and GIFs.
    • Collaborate with partners who license the Desmos API to help design and build graphs for their specific use cases.
    • Explore the boundaries of what’s possible with our technology and collaborate with the Product and Engineering teams to help drive future math tool development.
    • Take plenty of time off. We do our best work when we take time to recharge!

AS PART OF THE TEAM, YOU’LL RECEIVE:

    • Competitive compensation. Every full-time member of the team receives generous stock and salary compensation as well as a 401(k) match of up to 5% of annual salary.
    • Great benefits. We offer medical, vision, dental, short-term disability, long term disability, and life insurance. We also offer Medical and Dependent Care FSAs, a minimum of 30 days off (including 19 full-company holidays), and more!
    • Work-life balance. We’re a fully remote team, and we encourage time shifting. We value results over hours and sustainable, long-term success over short-term wins.
    • Ownership and influence. As a member of a small team with few external stakeholders, each person here plays a major role in defining our policies, goals, culture, and benefits.
