    How will this role impact First Command?

    The Developer II is a fully proficient engineer who owns tasks end‑to‑end, writes clean and testable code, and contributes to code quality and operational readiness. They are self-motivated individuals that look for opportunities and are excited to grow their business and technical knowledge which in-turn allows their Agile team to deliver business value. They work closely with consultants and architect roles to implement the designed business solution.

    What will the employee do in this role?

    • Breaks down design into executable pieces of work
    • Upholds coding standards and best practices and contributes to peer reviews
    • Independently diagnose and fix production issues
    • Enable operations through documentation, knowledge transfer, and technology
    • Participates in all phases of the software development lifecycle
    • Preparation and Execution of tests and test plans (unit, integration and functional)
    • Participates in scrum ceremonies, team, and dev discussions
    • Communicate and work alongside members of their team in support of their day-to-day work items
    • Responsible for learning business and technical knowledge from their peers
    • Seek guidance on designs and escalate blockers appropriately

    Education

    • Required – Bachelor’s degree

    Work Experience

    • 3 to 6 years’ experience

    • Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) - Preferred

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • SQL Query tuning and performance troubleshooting
    • Familiar with OpenAPI spec, prototyping APIs, and mocking APIs
    • Proficient in deployment toolchains in a cloud context (Azure DevOps, YAML, Terraform, Azure)
    • Proficient in relevant coding Design Pattern and their implementations
    • Strong debugger and troubleshooter using App Insights
    • Proficient in async programming concepts
    • Knowledge of one OOP language (C# preferred) or UI framework (Angular or React preferred)

  • Qualifications

    This position must be thoroughly knowledgeable at creating APIs and supporting an auditable release/change management process. To do so, the following are required:

    1. A Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of equivalent work experience in API development at a medium to large organization.

    2. Working knowledge of API applications, programming languages, and services and code such as primary .NET, HTML, HTML5, SQL, CSS, CSS3, Web Services (REST/SOAP), JavaScript, JQuery, PHP, and APIs.

    3. Architect, design and develop APIs that are maintainable, scalable, and testable.

    4. Develop and maintain API documentation, including code samples and usage guidelines.

    5. Troubleshoot and debug complex technical problems related to APIs.

    6. Create and maintain automated tests for APIs using appropriate testing frameworks such as JUnit and REST Assured.

    7. Collaborate with other development teams and architects to ensure quality and performance of APIs.

    8. Dedication to innovative, sophisticated designs and collaborative problem solving.

    9. Proven experience in the design and support of a Release Management Process.

    10. Proven ability to work with other teams (some remote) that support technologies such as dynamic DNS, Load Balancers, and Firewalls to provide high availability and disaster recovery environments.

    11. Strong time management skills in technical environments and project management.
