Position Overview
The Development Associate will play a key role in supporting and growing the organization’s fundraising initiatives, including grant writing, donor engagement, event coordination, and campaign support. This is a hybrid role, ideal for someone who wants to build a well-rounded foundation in nonprofit development while contributing to a high-impact, community-focused organization. Occasional travel to St. Cloud or Minneapolis is required to attend events or team meetings.
Key Responsibilities
Draft and edit grant proposals, letters of inquiry (LOIs), and reports for foundation, corporate, and government funders.
Coordinate donor stewardship activities, including acknowledgment letters and impact updates.
Support planning and logistics for fundraising events and community engagement efforts.
Assist with donor communications such as newsletters, emails, and social media content.
Maintain accurate records in the donor CRM system and assist with grant tracking.
Conduct prospect research for new funding opportunities and potential donors.
Collaborate with program staff to gather stories, data, and program outcomes for proposals and reports.
Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
Passion for community health, social justice, or nonprofit work.
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while collaborating virtually.
Proficiency with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office.
Willingness to travel periodically to St. Cloud or Minneapolis for in-person meetings or events.
Education Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, public health, business, English, or a related field is preferred.
Relevant work experience may be considered in place of a degree.
Preferred Experience (Not Required)
Previous experience (internship or paid) in nonprofit fundraising, development, or communications.
Familiarity with grant writing, CRM databases (e.g., Salesforce), or donor stewardship practices.
Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, or social media content development.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $22.00–$28.00/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
