The Opportunity
We are seeking a Development Associate to join our growing team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with our founding team, who have worked at prominent organizations including Carnegie Hall, Accenture, Vanguard, the LA Phil, Schmidt Futures, and more, while gaining broad exposure across the social impact and nonprofit sectors.
The ideal candidate will bring 2-4+ years of fundraising experience and a drive to expand their expertise across all aspects of philanthropy, social impact investing, and organizational development. Like the musical chord progression that inspired our name, we believe in creating harmony through structure while creating space for creativity and growth. We're looking for someone who shares our passion for strengthening the social sector and is excited to grow with us as we expand our impact.
This position combines hands-on client work (80%) with internal operations and business development (20%), offering exposure to various nonprofit organizations and the chance to help shape the future of a growing consultancy in collaboration with senior team members.
Key Responsibilities
Client Services (80%)
Support the development and execution of comprehensive fundraising strategies for a wide variety of nonprofit clients
Create compelling fundraising materials including cases for support, grant proposals, and donor communications
Conduct prospect research and develop donor cultivation strategies
Assist in campaign planning, including capital campaigns and major gifts initiatives
Support the development of fundraising infrastructure and systems
Analyze fundraising data and prepare client reports and presentations
Project manage client deliverables
Actively participate in client facing meetings
Operations & Business Development (20%)
Contribute to proposal development and new business initiatives
Support the creation of thought leadership content and best practices
Assist in developing and maintaining internal systems and processes
Participate in building Two Five One's knowledge base and resource library
Support client relationship management and business development activities
Project manage internal priorities to meet internal goals
Required Qualifications
Ability to approach and solve serious problems with a lighthearted mindset—team banter included.
2-4+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail and project management capabilities
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
Proficiency with Google Docs and Microsoft Office suites
Experience with Fundraising CRM platform(s) (Salesforce NPSP, Raiser’s Edge, Bloomerang, Tessitura, Little Green Light , etc) and project management solutions (Monday.com, Airtable, Asana, etc.; Airtable preferred)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to understand and empathize with diverse stakeholder perspectives, from nonprofit staff to donors to community members
Demonstrated ability to present findings to internal and client stakeholders
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Preferred Experience
Experience in major gifts, institutional giving, or capital campaigns
Familiarity with multiple fundraising CRM systems
Experience with project management tools (Monday.com, Airtable preferred)
Background in or passion for arts, education, or social justice organizations

Competitive salary range: $55,000 - $65,000
