Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization working to break down the barriers to safe, affordable homeownership for local families in need. By helping families become first-time homebuyers and making critical home repair affordable for existing homeowners, we empower our community. Currently, 1 in 3 Milwaukee renters spend half or more of their income on housing. Job Summary

The Development Coordinator is the hub of our fund raising team. You’ll contribute to our success by providing event support, managing our donor database, and monitoring grant requirements. You’ll work with volunteers, donors and corporate leaders to help Milwaukee Habitat raise over $5+ million annually!

RESPONSIBILITIES

Gift processing

We have thousands of generous supporters, from individuals giving $10/month to companies donating over $100,000 annually.

Put your passion for relationships, data and spreadsheets to work:

• Process donations
• Produce thank you letters and progress reports
• Report on grants

Special events

Our events raise over $750,000 annually and introduce hundreds of people to our organization.

Put your skills in event planning and hospitality to work:

• Prepare invitation lists and track RSVPs
• Lead set-up and check-in
• Solicit and track auction donations

Additional Opportunities

The Development Coordinator participates in several key organizational activities:

• Work alongside the Chief Executive Officer with Board of Directors meeting preparation
• Manage our annual employee giving/United Way campaign
• Work with our volunteer department to organize office projects for fund development volunteers

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience, preferred
• 1 to 3 years of fund development experience (particularly in database management and fundraising events) or relevant experience in finance, accounting, hospitality or similar fields

Knowledge / Skills

• Excellent attention to detail and written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Project management and multi-tasking skills
• Proficient in Google Docs and/or Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of fund raising strategies, including donor cultivation, recognition and stewardship
• Knowledge of development database software, online gift processing tools and event management software a plus
• Familiarity with finance and accounting practices and software a plus

Ability to:

• Articulate the mission and impact of Milwaukee Habitat
• Analyze data and learn data entry processes and procedures
• Effectively set priorities to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner
• Maintain confidentiality
• Maintain a valid Wisconsin Driver's license and good driving record
• Travel to various sites for work events

COMPENSATION

• $17 to $20 per hour
• Hourly / Non-exempt with full benefit package
• Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm. Occasional weekday evening and Saturday during the day
• Flexibility to work 1 day from home once onboarding is complete
