    ABOUT THE INDIVIDUAL GIVING AND SPECIAL EVENTS TEAM

    The Development Coordinator is a key member of the Development Division, which includes the Individual Giving, Special Events, Corporate Relations, Foundation and Government Relations, and Marketing and Communications teams. This role supports the Individual Giving, Special Events, and Corporate Relations teams—a dynamic and dedicated group focused on generating the revenue necessary to sustain New York Cares’ impactful programs.

    The team secures funding through multi-channel individual giving campaigns, strategic corporate partnerships, and high-profile special events, such as the annual Gala and Soirée. Additionally, the Individual Giving and Special Events team oversees two volunteer leadership groups—the Rising Leaders Council and the Family Council—composed of young professionals committed to advancing New York Cares’ mission.

    The team is led by a Development Director and includes two Development Officers and the Development Coordinator. Together, they work collaboratively to achieve ambitious fundraising goals and create meaningful donor and partner engagement opportunities.

    ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

    The Development Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Development Division across fundraising operations, individual giving, special events, and corporate relations, with occasional collaboration with other teams within the division. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate donor data recording and processing, providing appropriate donor recognition, and offering logistical support for special events.

    Reporting to the Vice President of Fund Development, the Development Coordinator works closely with the Development Director, Corporate Relations Director, and their respective teams. This role also serves as a key point of contact for donors and vendors, fostering positive relationships and ensuring seamless communication.

    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Oversee the acknowledgment process, ensuring donors are thanked promptly and with up-to-date New York Cares mission messaging.
    • Maintain Salesforce records and conduct monthly audits to ensure development data accuracy and completeness.
    • Manage the financial reconciliation process, including oversight of incoming checks and electronic funds transfers, adhering to fiduciary best practices.
    • Maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and vendors by providing invoices and other records as requested.
    • Support the Development Director and team with moves management tracking and prospect research.
    • Generate ad-hoc and monthly reports for use across the department and division.
    • Manage donor data and generate reports to track fundraising progress, donor retention, and engagement metrics.
    • Support revenue generation for special events by coordinating online event platforms, managing outreach, and overseeing prize management.
    • Provide administrative support to the development team and Senior Leadership Team, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and assisting with event management.
    • Oversee corporate matching gift and workplace giving campaigns.
    • Represent New York Cares’ mission and programs to external stakeholders by building and maintaining strong organizational knowledge.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    The Development Coordinator will be a highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter who will tackle all projects with enthusiasm and a commitment to exceptional performance. Successful candidates will have a desire to learn and improve organizational systems, interest in the nonprofit space, and:

    • Exceptional attention to detail with a high-level proofreading and editing abilities.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of curiosity.
    • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Highly organized and professional demeanor.

    • Ability to manage concurrent multiple assignments, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize accordingly.
    • Broad-based computer skills (MS Office required; Sharepoint, Salesforce, Mailchimp, and Stripe a plus)

    COMPENSATION

    The salary for this role is $64,350.
