The Development Director is a key leadership role responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive development strategy and program aligned with the organization’s strategic plan to sustain and grow the mission of A Haven, a 501©(3) nonprofit organization.
This position will lead all aspects of fundraising, including individual giving, donor stewardship, special campaigns, and grant development, as well as building organizational relationships in the community. The Development Director will work collaboratively with staff and board members to expand philanthropic support, deepen community partnerships, and ensure the organization’s long-term sustainability. The Development Director reports to the Executive Director.
The Development Director Position – 20 hours/week, salaried, on-site in Exton and off-site at locations in Chester County, must have daytime and evening availability.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop and execute a comprehensive annual strategic fundraising plan
Cultivate current and prospective donors through relationship building including personal visits and active follow up to establish trust, confidence, and care
Work with Executive Director and Board to cultivate and increase investment at the $1,000 - $10,000 level; increase the gifts of current donors and overall number of donors; coordinate prospect research.
Identify ways to diversify A Haven’s funding base to increase unrestricted and restricted funds from all constituencies and launch appropriate programs and initiatives.
Work with Executive Director and Board to integrate a planned giving program with annual fund donor cultivation and solicitation efforts.
Research, apply, and manage all grant applications.
Actively participate in chambers and business organizations within Chester County to expand awareness of A Haven and develop partnerships
Work with Executive Director and Board to strengthen relations within the Chester County corporate sector and chambers of commerce.
Understand and advocate for A Haven’s services and the benefits that they provide to the broader community
Work with Executive Director, Board, Development Committee and volunteers to successfully develop and execute annual fundraising events
Establish obtainable goals for events and an executable plan to deliver results
Provide cultivation tours to all prospective partners
Represent A Haven at public events and in other contexts as needed
Fully own and manage A Haven’s CRM including accurate donor profiles and reports
Prepare monthly reports evaluating fundraising efforts and progress.
Lead the annual appeal and annual report.
Report to and maintain effective working relationship with the Development Committee and Finance Committee
Keep Executive Director, the Board and Development Committee up to date on fundraising practices, the philanthropic community, tax law, and IRS rulings that affect charitable giving.
Collaborate with leadership team to establish comfort regarding grief support and how to safely engage the community while building partnerships
Qualifications:
10 Years’ Experience with Demonstrated Success Cultivating & Soliciting Major Gifts
Management and/or Leadership Experience Preferred
Team Oriented
Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills Required
Organizational, Time-Management and Problem-Solving Skills Needed
Ability to Lead and Direct the Committee Volunteers
Excellent Attention To Detail
Experience with Grant Writing
Experience with Donor Management Platforms
Event Planning Capabilities
CFRE Certification
