Position Summary
Community CARES Homeless Services seeks a motivated and relationship-focused Development Director to lead fundraising and community engagement efforts that support the organization’s mission of serving and strengthening the community by providing emergency shelter, resources, and supportive services to individuals and families at risk of or experiencing homelessness.in Cumberland County.
The Development Director will cultivate donor relationships, coordinate fundraising campaigns, and strengthen community partnerships to grow philanthropic support for Community CARES Homeless Services. Working closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, this role will help expand awareness of the organization’s impact and increase annual fundraising revenue.
This position offers the opportunity to help shape the future of fundraising at Community CARES and grow with the organization as philanthropic support expands.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Relations and Fundraising
Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, community partners, and supporters to strengthen long-term philanthropic engagement.
Identify and cultivate prospective major donors and supporters.
Coordinate annual fundraising efforts including donor appeals, campaigns, and fundraising events.
Support efforts to grow recurring and monthly giving programs.
Community Engagement
Represent Community CARES Homeless Services at community events and meetings.
Coordinate speaking opportunities and outreach to increase awareness of the organization’s mission.
Maintain relationships with local businesses, civic organizations, and community leaders.
Board and Leadership Collaboration
Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to support fundraising initiatives and donor engagement.
Assist board members in connecting with donors and supporters.
Grant Support
Collaborate with the Executive Director and program staff to support grant development, funder relationships, and grant reporting.
Communications
Assist with donor communications, newsletters, and social media related to fundraising and community engagement.
Share stories and program impact that inspire community support.
Qualifications
Passion for the mission of Community CARES Homeless Services.
Experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, community relations, or a related field preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to build relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners.
Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Work Environment
This position is based in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and includes both office work and community engagement. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for fundraising events or donor meetings.
