    An Agile Coach is an expert in Agile practices and has excellent facilitation, mentoring, training, and professional coaching skills. The Agile Coach performs agile coaching at Portfolio, Program, and Team levels across both the business and IT and will be focused at the Program Level. They should be comfortable working at all levels to help the organization use Agile as a strategic asset of culture change and business value generation. The Agile Coach is pragmatic, not dogmatic, about adopting Agile, and is proactive in driving sustainable, incremental change to improve organizational agility. The Agile Coach is outcome focused and can demonstrate and speak to how certain Agile practices drive valuable business results.

    REQUIRED:

    • 5+ years of experience in an Agile capacity such as Enterprise Agile Coach, Product Management, Product Owner, Scrum Master, etc Experience in coaching, consulting and mentoring at Team, Program, and Portfolio levels preferred
    • Relevant business process improvement and facilitation
    • Experience in creating an effective team environment, building strong relationships, negotiation, solving problems and issues, resolving conflicts, communicating and influencing effectively at all levels of an organization required
    • Understanding of Agile with hands-on experience in Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and/or eXtreme Programing
    • Skills and experience in leading and managing process assessment (documenting as-is) and process analysis (identifying improvement opportunities and defining future state)
    • Superior analytical and problem solving skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work through people to get things done especially when dealing with executive level leadership
    • Ability to involve and encourage others to explore ways to be part of the change process
    • Actively facilitate the implementation and acceptance of new processes or procedures in the workplace
    • Develop, coach and mentor team members and encourage them to take risks

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience and education
    • 5+ years in an Agile coaching or enterprise coaching role in various enterprises
    • 2-5 years in a delivery role, with Agile (Scrum Master, Technology Lead, Business Lead, Product Owner, Solution Architect, etc.)
    • Experience in creating Agile training/workshop material
    • Experience with establishing Release Trains
    • Experience in driving Agile Transformations from design to implementation
    • Experience working with large, small, remote, and collocated Agile teams
    • Experience at the Program Level coaching and mentoring Business Owners and Product Managers to establish prioritization and backlogs
    • Experience in the use of scaling methods such as SAFe, LESS, or industry equivalents
    • Solid background utilizing an Agile framework (e.g. Scrum, Extreme Programming, Kanban) in software development
    • Strong presentation and facilitation skills, coaching and mentorship experience
    • Solid oral, written, and presentation skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills
    • At least 1-2 Agile certifications such as SAFe Program Consultant (SPC),SAFe Program Consultant Trainer (SPCT), SAFe Agilest (SA), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) or SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  

    • Support and contribute to the organization-wide Agile transformation strategy
    • Embrace servant leadership and display the behaviors that come with the key mindset shifts associated with Agile methods
    • Provide coaching to the business roles of Product Management
    • Coach and partner with Product Owners on technical teams with backlog creating and refinement to ensure vision and program roadmap are well-defined and understood
    • Work with agile leaders to design and promote agile transformation
    • Attend Agile ceremonies and events (such as PI Planning, Inspect and Adapt workshops, Scrum of Scrums, etc.) to provide guidance
    • Help mobilize communities of practice for specific roles to enable local thought leadership and collaboration
    • Help identify organizational impediments to a successful Agile transformation and work with the leadership teams, coaches and delivery teams to create effective strategies to overcome them
    • Facilitate classroom/workshop training for professional levels through management on Agile frameworks, competencies, and methodologies
    • Be an agent of change who continuously drives Agile maturity levels (including self-organization, servant leadership, flow, respect for individuals, transparency, balance, etc.) by challenging assumptions and current ways of thinking and proposing actionable steps to make incremental, sustainable change
    • Act as a subject matter expert to instill a culture of measurement with respect to both the impact of change to the business and the effectiveness of the system of delivery
    • Support the quarterly Program Increment (PI) planning processes
    • Potentially serve as Release Train Engineer for Programs, facilitating PI training
    • Acts as change agent and demonstrates to the teams how the Agile processes and systems work

    MINIMUM PHYSICAL EXPECTATIONS:

    • Physical activity that often requires keyboarding, sitting, phone work, and filing
    • Physical activity that often requires extensive time working on a computer
    • Physical activity may require lifting under 25 lbs
    • Physical activity that sometimes requires travel – car, train, and/or air
    • Physical activity that sometimes requires bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and/or twisting
    • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus
    • Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face to face (in English) for long periods of time

    MINIMUM ENVIRONMENTAL EXPECTATIONS:

    • This position will require working indoors.  Typical workweek is eight (8) hour workdays, five (5) days per week with some weekend work, as well as longer hours as needed.  This position deals with some aggressive personalities and could be stressful.
