Start date - September 2021. We are currently hiring for part-time positions, must be available during our Fall 2021 term
Dexter is a K-12 start-up school for aspiring artists, scientists, and engineers. Our students and educators are motivated learners who bring a multitude of diverse and unique backgrounds to our community.
Educators help to ensure the smooth running of Dexter campuses. Educators attend to both the health and safety standards on campus as well as pastoral care for on-campus students. They are a faculty presence on campus, who both oversee the physical space as well as direct students, parents, and other community members through the Dexter channels of communication to meet their needs. Educators are experienced, collaborative, committed to professional growth, love working with students inside and outside of the classroom, and engage in their work with dedication and humor. Your duties as a substitute Educator are to:
- Implement lesson plans provided by class educator or as assigned by campus administrators
- Provide age appropriate feedback to students regarding assignments and tasks
- Evaluate student performance to gauge progress and academic development
- Maintain Dexter standards of excellence in educator conduct
- Monitor student activities and behavior to ensure compliance with safety protocols and Dexter ethos
- Be able to work on-campus at Dexter's Wichita Falls, TX location
- Have a baseline understanding of mathematics, science, and English language arts.
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring as needed
- Be positive, encouraging role models and/or mentors for a range of students
- Curate course documentation
- Curate the course gradebook and quarterly student comments
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring as needed

Qualifications - The ideal candidate will:
- Have a degree. Masters preferred.
- Have experience tutoring or teaching a variety of courses in middle school and/or high school literature and or social studies.
- Experience with a humanities club (i.e., Creative Writing, etc) a plus
- Exhibit a passion for content knowledge and a range of effective teaching approaches
- Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and challenging learning environment
- Integrate technology in effective ways that enhances students' learning experiences and growth
- Be responsive to the social, emotional, and academic needs of students
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Qualifications - The ideal candidate will:
- Be able to work on-campus at Dexter's Wichita Falls, TX location
- Be able to provide detailed feedback on student assignments, tasks, and assessments.
- Have a background in STEM with a robust understanding of math, chemistry, physics, biology or engineering.
- Have a baseline understanding of mathematics, science, history and English language arts.
- Demonstrate excellent spoken and written communication skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly to students
- Be able to juggle multiple tasks and be receptive to student needs on a daily basis.
Schedule:
- Full time: Monday - Friday, about 7:30AM - 3:30PM, when needed
- Part time: Daily, when needed
