    A DAY IN THE LIFE: The primary purpose of the Pastry Cook is to assist the culinary team in the pastry department at Di Bruno Bros. This person will assist with the production of world class pastries and desserts for our events, restaurants, and retail operations. This individual is responsible for ensuring that we exceed customer expectations, communicate with our team members, and meet both company and departmental objectives.

    Essential Job Functions

    Knowledge and passion for pastries and desserts to include plated desserts and pastry stations for events, retail pastry offerings, individual tarts, entremets, whole cakes, cookies, breakfast pastries, cookies, fermented goods

    In a timely fashion, prepare and fill orders according to company specifications and expectations.

    Presenting pastries it in an attractive manner

    Able to work in a clean, organized, and efficient manner.

    Maintain clean and sanitary food preparation and storage areas in accordance with state and local sanitation requirements and codes.

    Demonstrate strong communication skills with peers and collaborate with team members

    Ensure safe operating procedures of all equipment, utensils, and machinery

    Provide superior customer service as defined by Di Bruno Bros. within the scope of the position and company policy

    Associate will follow all established policies, procedures, and practices

    Follow all sanitation practices, cleaning schedules, stock rotation schedules

    Rotate food selections regularly based on season, holiday, product availability, merchandising mix, and demand

    Minimum Requirements

    Understanding of pastry cooking methods

    Minimum 1-year experience working in pastry or equivalent experience

    Ability to work in a diverse environment with a focus on product consistency

    Ability to communicate as needed with customers, superiors, and peers

    Ability to read, write and count to accurately complete all documentation.

    Ability to move or handle products and supplies throughout the store

    Capable of lifting up to 50lbs

    Time management, organizational skills, attention to detail

    Availability to work varied hours/days as dictated by business

The performance of this position requires that the individual come into contact with the public and coworkers. Temperatures vary and are typically very warm in the kitchen, ambient in the office area, and cold in the freezer. Lighting varies by location but is typically ambient. The individual will frequently come into contact with tools and utensils necessary to prepare the items made by the Culinary Team, including sharp tools such as knives. Floors may be slippery both in the kitchen and in the hallways. Due to the nature of our industry, the performance of this position will require the individual to spend time in a facility in which he/she will be exposed, either directly or indirectly, to potential food allergens including (but not limited to): peanuts, gluten, corn, egg, fish, milk, shellfish, soy, tree nut, and wheat.
