    Job Description

    This position is contingent upon award of contract.

    This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below:

    International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Radiology Registered Nurse to provide patient care before, during, and after imaging procedures.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform a variety of radiology mammography examinations, from screening mammograms to very difficult diagnostic and magnification views and needle localizations.
      • Monitor and document the performance of the imaging equipment dedicated to mammography.
      • Perform extensive quality control tests at defined daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly intervals as required by the American College of Radiology (ACR), as further outlined in VHA directives and guidance, and as determined at each individual facility to assure test accuracy and deviation correction.
      • Perform additional quality control testing when problems are suspected and after service or preventative maintenance.
      • Independently operate radiographic equipment to perform a variety of complex diagnostic radiographic exams, as well as on-call for all modalities with a 30- minute report time from the time of notification.
      • Receive patients, explain method of procedure, position patients, select and set technical factors, set up and adjust accessory equipment, and make and develop exposures.
      • Work equipment and perform duties independently as well as part of a team.
      • Be subject to the same quality assurance standards in meeting or exceeding current recognized national standards as established by The Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO).
      • Perform services in accordance with ethical, professional, and technical standards of the healthcare industry consistent with VA policy, regulations, and procedures.
      • Be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfil the Government’s requirements, including the ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently.
      • Be responsible for compliance with all procedures in accordance with applicable VASDHS written policies, procedures, bylaws, and medical staff protocols.
      • Have the ability to use computers and technology efficiently.
      • Be required to set up radiographic suites and assure that sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters, and other required equipment and supplies are present and available.
      • Prepare and administer contrast material orally, by enema, or intravenously under close supervision of a radiologist, but not independently, as required.
      • Perform related clerical duties such as sending images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), archiving images, post processing images, and case editing of computer request and reports.
    • •Maintain records and enter patient information using the Radiology VistA Package, and the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).
      • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements/Certifications:

    • Must be licensed by the state of California in Radiography and Mammography.
    • Must possess experience with mammographic quality assurance software program, such as MagView, is highly preferred
    • Must have two (2) years current work experience within the past three (3) years.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

    Education Required:

    • Must be certified by the ARRT in Radiography and Mammography.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
      • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
      • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.

    Other Special Qualifications:

    • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
    • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
    • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

    Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
