American Kidney Center of Madison (AKC) is looking for energetic, patient and team focused Patient Care Technicians to join our unit!
- Assumes responsibility and utilizes opportunities for personal and professional growth
- Direct Patient Care. Spend the majority of your day in direct one-on-one patient care to provide safe, comfortable dialysis treatments
- Our PCTs care for multiple patients
- Monitor patients before, during and after dialysis treatment including measuring and recording stats, patient observations, and hemodialysis machine setup. Please note you will have exposure to blood and needles.
- Building long-term relationships with your patients in end stage renal disease and are receiving treatment on average 3 times/week. You will also be responsible for educating patients on Kidney Dialysis related topics.
- Team of clinicians including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers and leadership. PCTs work under the supervision of a RN
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Health care experience a plus including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
- Certification required 18 months from hire date
- Desire to enter the health care field to care for other people in need
- Must be comfortable working around blood and needles
- Successful completion of on-site 12 week training in theory and practice of hemodialysis
- Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 10+ hours)
- Valid driver’s license and insurance
- Computer knowledge desirable
- CPR Certified - may complete during training
- Drug screen and background check required for employment

- Dialysis: 1 year (Preferred not required)
License/Certification:
- CCHT (preferred/not required)
- CPR Certification (Preferred/complete during training)
