ASPHALT PLANT OPERATOR to join our crews in the Amite/Hammond, LA area.

JOB DUTIES:

• Assisting Area Manager and Plant Manager with the safe, efficient and high quality operation and maintenance of asphalt plant and surrounding yard.
• Demonstrating proper operation and maintenance of specialized equipment through hands-on work and training.
• Directing work flow and solving problems in the absence of the Manager
• Read, understands and correctly reacts to computer signals, gauges, temps and other indicators
• Determines proper quantities of materials, adjusts controls, maintain speed, temperature and flow of materials
• Makes manual adjustments to belts, conveyors, bearings and other moving parts
• Assembles/disassembles equipment and structures
• Understands and complies with applicable environmental laws and regulations
• Safely delivers product by accurately dumping material through a controlled silo system
• Performing other duties on the jobsite when equipment is not in operation, as to add to efficiency of our overall operation
• Following all safety policies and PPE use

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work outdoors in high heat and cold
• Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs. unassisted
• Ability to walk and stand on uneven surfaces for long periods of time
• Ability to operate designated equipment and company vehicles by safe use of levers, knobs, handles and peddles, steering mechanisms
• Ability to stoop, bend and climb as needed
• Ability to read, see and understand signs, signals, commands, instruction and safety policies
• Ability to train and teach proper safety techniques and PPE use

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Must have minimum of 2 yrs. experience in an asphalt plant or industrial processing environment. A degree in construction management or related field is preferred.
• Ability to operate specialized road and/or heavy equipment as needed
