    SUMMARY

    Supports operations on presort equipment in accordance with company with policy and Standard Operating Procedures. Employee is responsible for process integrity as described in the SOP’s for this position.  Employee is responsible for confidentially as described in the DMS confidentially agreement signed annually.  Employee is responsible for security as described in DMS security policies and information delivered during the annual securing training.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

    • Must follow written and spoken directions and be able to interpret job tickets.
    • Understands USPS postal concepts.
    • Operates high speed/ large capacity automated mail center equipment while performing all production-related functions with quality and efficiency
    • With minimal or no supervision, operates high speed/large capacity automated Sorting equipment and completes a range of mail sorting functions.
    • Performs and maintain throughput per hour by keeping machine(sorter) running and responding quickly to errors that stop the machine
    • Verifies document quality.  Quality checks include machine set up, mail tap test, print and indicia verification. Takes corrective action or escalates, as needed.
    • Ability to load and unload mail properly for the job to be run.
    • Consistently demonstrate the proper way to lift and load.
    • Consistently meets quota to accurately sort product by first and standard class mail and/or consistently exceed production quota.
    • Demonstrates the ability to operate the equipment using all basic functions. Is trained, certified and/or licensed in equipment usage. Completes a range of responsibilities and processes with minimal supervision and guidance. 
    • Prioritizes workflow according to Service Level Agreements (SLA). Meets the established standards for all processes, to maintain the overall work condition.
    • Guides work activities and processes within work unit.
    • May direct and monitor work assignments for team member (Sweepers and back-end mail handler).
    • Supports other units and functions as needed.
    • Operates and maintains document production equipment and PC’s
    • Assist with sweeping as assigned or needed.
    • Perform housekeeping duties as needed to keep work area clean and clear of debris.
    • Adheres to departmental and OSHA guidelines. Adheres to equipment safety and environmental compliance standards and practices and monitors and alerts coworkers and leaders of safety issues.
    • Abides by the policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
