Grader/Gemologist in our Brickell Miami Location
● Perform the evaluation of diamonds, colored stones and mounted jewelry, in accordance with company standards and document identifying features required for gemological and business reports. Follow standard grading methodology and examination techniques to evaluate diamonds and colored stones using proper tools and devices.
● Ability to communicate professionally and collaborate with a diverse group of individuals
● Drive and motivation to meet production and quality requirements
● Organized, detail-oriented, computer literate, able to prioritize and to multi-task
● Graduate Diamonds/ Graduate Gemologist (GIA) preferred
Position Information
Jewelry Operations- Selected candidate will be responsible for managing timelines and communications across all departments to ensure schedules for product and online sales are met. Communicate clearly and effectively with overseas & local vendors. Update the database in relation to the status of products, correctly, consistently, and in a timely fashion to keep the workflow smooth across the various departments (Advertising, Ordering, Shipping, and Marketing).
● Responsible for all work associated with the evaluation of stones, including highly accurate carat weight calculation and grading, cataloging property, researching authenticity and provenance, and reviewing client inquiries to determine sale potential.
● Working closely with the owner to coordinate their needs with fine jewelry and timepieces throughout the year including data entry, sales and purchasing, developing the layout of the sale, assisting with catalog production, preparing reports and working with different sales and previews.
● Sorting and organizing Jewelry. Data entry on various e-commerce platforms of fine jewelry details.
● Representing Dover with Clients and other company vendors on the buying and selling of fine jewelry. Working with the team on an intradepartmental basis as needed and sharing services among other departments. Building business relations with customers and vendors over the phone and meeting with customers and vendors in our showroom to assist them with a purchase.
● You will also be responsible for new concepts and managing back-end products; team productivity and deadlines along with various other administrative tasks.
Desired Skills
● Graduate Diamonds / Graduate Gemologist Diploma (GIA)
● Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the jewelry industry
● Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to inspire, motivate, and encourage others
● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with weekly deadlines and exhibit impeccable attention to detail and organization skills.
● Strong understanding of jewelry products, and positioning in the industry
● Understanding the needs of small, mid-sized, and large business customers
● Ability to proactively solve problems, and make management decisions
● Computer literacy and experience with various online e-commerce and inventory programs and the current market prices of gemstones.
● A working knowledge of antique, vintage and contemporary jewelry descriptions.
● Detail-oriented with strong business ,analytical, and organizational skills
● Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Computer literacy of Photoshop, Excel, Microsoft Office, Inventory Programs,10 x loupe, etc.
Flexible, team environment - Monday - Friday 10:30 - 5:30
Salary Commensurate with experience. Starting Salary $20/hr plus benefits.
Candidate must live within a 30-mile radius of the Downtown Miami Area.
