    ABOUT THE JOB: The Design Engineer is tasked with improvements to existing products along with developing new product design concepts, and launching new product divisions.  This position must balance product design with manufacturing and cost implications, in order to achieve the best product performance and user experience.  

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

    • Manage multiple projects from ideation to production
    • Develop design concepts and determine feasibility and manufacturability
    • Translate marketing requirements to technical performance requirements
    • Lead prototype creation and testing
    • Develop final design and analyze for performance and suitability
    • Determine product architecture including part breakout and material selection
    • Responsible for form, fit, and function of design and cost breakdowns
    • Own all aspects of 2D and 3D CAD
    • Technical documentation of key project decisions and design changes
    • Regular reporting to cross-functional and leadership teams on key project indicators - schedule, budget, and quality

    REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING:

    • B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
    • 3+ years of design engineering experience
    • Exceptional portfolio, demonstrating examples of managing product development from concept to introduction to market
    • Experience with 2D, 3D CAD software 
    • Experience with new component procurement including finding new suppliers, sampling, first article inspections, production release
    • Strong skills and experience with managing external suppliers and partners
    • Self motivated, with strong problem-solving skills, and a high attention to detail
    • Strong communication and presentation skills
    • Stage-gate development process experience
    • Experience with product testing and evaluation
    • Knowledge and experience in manufacturing processes for metals including bending/forming, cutting, welding, machining, casting, and painting/coatings
    • Experience working directly with marketing and industrial design teams
