Job Summary:
The Process Technician is responsible for setting up, monitoring, and optimizing die casting machines and related equipment to ensure consistent part quality and production efficiency. This position plays a key role in maintaining process stability, troubleshooting machine and tooling issues, and supporting continuous improvement efforts within the die casting department.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up, start up, and shut down die casting machines according to established production parameters and quality standards.
• Monitor and adjust process settings, including shot parameters, metal temperature, die temperature, spray cycles, and cooling times to ensure stable production.
• Troubleshoot and correct die casting machine, tooling, and process issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
• Perform in-process inspections to verify part quality and ensure adherence to specifications.
• Work with engineering and maintenance teams to identify root causes of process issues and recommend improvements.
• Document process changes, machine settings, and production performance data accurately.
• Participate in new die sampling, process development, and validation activities.
• Active participation in product changeover
• Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Train operators and other team members on proper machine operation, safety procedures, and standard work.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certificate preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a die casting or metal manufacturing environment required.
• Strong understanding of die casting machine operations, process control, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, part drawings, and process sheets.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and process documentation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand, walk, and perform hands-on tasks for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, molten metal, noise, and moving machinery.
